Try Meguires NXT Tech Wax. My used 2k2 had the worst swirl and micro maring I had seen. I used NXT (after having great success with my 96) and it completely eliminated the swirl marks.

It is not a permanent fix but any time you wash your car you can eliminate those swirls and add a deep rich shine. Apply the nxt by hand and rubb it on and off in the direction that the wind travels over your car (back and fourth, not in a circular motion) and I'll bet it will take care of your problem.

It won't "take care of it". It will simply cover up part of the problem for a few weeks and the problem will return.

Go pick up some 3M Perfect-it III Rubbing Compound. It's expensive, but it'll get the job done. This is something that you COULD do by hand, but you'll get the best results with a D/A PC or Rotary. Make sure you follow up with a good polish, i'd reccomend 3M Perfect-it III Machine Glaze. Those two together will take care of your problem for good.

i have detailed quite a few cars that were like it. my process usually consists of a medium to heavy polish with a polishing pad on my rotory and buff at 1200 rpm. after that i get some 3m swirl remover and a polishing pad on my rotory and buff. if its a dark car i have found more success using the pc for the swirl remover. i try to aviod the pc though because it takes a lot longer to use with the small pads. but i dont know what u have access to. also the tech wax... yeah dont even waste ur time or money the stuff is cr@p in my honest opinion.

Never said it was permanent, re-read the first line of the second paragraph.

should you not use a towel when drying off your car? Is this what leads to the swirl marks?

You should use a QUALITY microfiber towel (waffle weave).
