Headliner stains

I was wondering what you guys suggest for getting stains out of my headliner? The douche who had the car before me must have been the dirtiest **** ever, everything was dirty. I've managed to clean the seats and the rest of the car, but i'm not sure what to do about the headliner. The stains are black, but i have no idea what they are; grease or something maybe.

a) Spray a terrycloth towel with upholstery cleaner until slightly damp
b) Gently work solution with towel to remove stains
c) Gently pat solution from headliner

Another way to do this is using a pressure steamer with an attachment and a towel around the nozzle.

Spraying solutions directly on the headliner can weaken the glue. Scrubbing with a brush can cause damage to the headliner as well.

Any recommended cleaners? I only have Mother's leather cleaner atm, and i doubt that would work very well.

For general dirt, I've used Woolite mixed with 5 parts water. As stated, spray the solution on a cloth (I use MF) and gently rub. Wipe with a clean MF. If it's a tough stain like you say, it may take a number of applications.

Must be tan interior...use armor all cleaning wipes it will take a while but I cleaned my headliner and other parts and it took off all the dirt. They work really well on the plastic parts too to take all of the dirt and grime. Spot shot works wonders on any bad stains just spray and blot out the dirt on a rag or paper towel.
