How long should i wait before wax and polish??

I have an 06 SE and I've had my car for a little longer than six months and i'm wondering if i should get my car waxed or waxed and polished or should i wait longer for more time to pass? Also just to mention i got that teflon spray or protector when i purchased the car from the dealer. Thanks.

As long as you are a couple months past the build date you should be ok. Same with fresh paint. The body shop will reccomend at least 60 days before waxing, and encourage 90 days if possible.

it left the plan fully cured. read around this forum and you'll see you should
wash
clay
polish
wax

that teflon probably won't last long, but if I got it, i'd just rinse

...what he said.

I couldn't believe the amount of stuff I took off with the clay bar when my 2K2 was 6 months old. And with the correct polishing and wax, the finish looked much better than when it was new.

I've already been quoted for 60 bucks on a wash, wax and polish from my g/f's dad who's a professional. I'll ask him to do the clay also. Thanks Guys.

DuPont admitted that Teflon has no benefit in car protection products. In order for Teflon to bond to a surface, it needs to be applied at roughly 400*F.

I agree with Nismo. A car is painted much diferrently at the factory than the way it is painted at a body shop. I.e. much higher temps. The only time you need to wait to wax is when the car is painted by a collision place. Even then, you could get away with a glaze to keep it looking good before you do a full scale detail. BTW I just tried Mothers sealer and glaze and it is an awesome product. It literaly took YEARS of the look of my fourth gen. it fills in the scratches that polishing just cant get out. Think of the glaze as makeup for your car. I had used Zaino, and loved it, but realized that I was getting shine, but no depth. Once you see depth in your shine, the sizzle factor takes the back burner. My car STILL sizzles, but now has depth to go along with it. Now, I am not sure of its durabilty, but if it lasts even a month, and i have to reapply, then so be it. Polish, then glazed topped with a pure carnuba and you wont believe that its the same car. Edit- just saw my sig pic, the car looks like utter crap compared to what it looks like now. And in the pic I hd two coats of z5 and z2. Dont forget the importance of proper preperation.
