really bad residue on plastic headlight

on the freeway, a couple months ago, this cardboard piece from the freeway flew up in front of my car. ... oddly enough, it was stuck on my headlight for a long time - i figured it'd fly off during the highway curves ... just figured the wind was holding it up against the front of my car.

but appraently, it was some sort of sticky/gluey residue and it's left behind on my headlight (cefiro)

I tried claybar ... got some of the minor spatter off.

recommendations?

i can get pics

sometimes glues or other liquids can cause a chemical reaction with plastics on the outside of vehicles, which discolors or hazes clear plastics. try using a buffing compound. Hopefully it's just an articifial stain, so maybe wd40 might work.

whatever that stuff is , it's on top of the lens ... hopefully it hasn't screwed up the plastic underneath it though.

i'll try those. thanx

Maybe some type of solvent would work. Goo Gone or mineral spirits may soften it. The Goo Gone may cause some hazing, maybe try it on the red part of your tail light first. I would think any haze could be removed with a polish.

Or if you have a really steady hand you could try a razor blade.

Goo Gone. You can always put in some time to clean them up nice afterwards. Wet sanding with 1500/2000 grit will do the trick, then polish. Someone did a write-up on them in one of the forums.
