Cleaning the rims

i have a 97 se with the 5 spokes. i was wondering what you guys would recommend to clean them off with. ive been using bug and tar remover, and its been doing fine, and keeps them clean for a while.

im sure there are other threads on this but i cant search so if anyone finds other threads too thatd be great.

Go to any auto parts store and get some aluminum wheel polish. It made my firends 97' wheels look brand new!

One thing you guys are forgetting is that his 5 spoke rims are clearcoated like the paint. In order to do them, I would advise claying them after washing with a decent wheel cleaner or all purpose cleaner.

In my case, I use this to clean both rims and tires: http://www.properautocare.com/hi-c32.html

Then, you should clay the rims and then treat them with a decent polymer sealant to make life easier.

Once you've got 'em clean, it helps to put a coat of wax on them to keep brake dust and dirt off. You'll still get some, but it rinses right off and looks a heck ova lot better.

I have this same problem with my wheels, perhaps I am being a little slow this morning, but where would i get acid? Or is it something I may already have kicking around the house?
