Lexol leather cleaner then follow with Lexol protectant. The first time I cleaned my frost seats, the rag was filthly brown afterwards. Takes some elbow grease to get the deep down dirt out.

You may even want to get a toothbrush and scrub the seats with the Lexol cleaner, that's what I had to do. It took about 2 hours to clean the front seats. And like 00MaxSE said be sure to follow up with some Lexol protectant.

I've heard ALOT of good things about Lexol. I've just been too lazy to go buy some and try it out.

Oh & another one. I've read about ALOT of folks over on the autopia forums that use a mixture of water & wool lite. They say it works great. I believe for leather seats they mix it 10-1.

If you want to SEE the dirt, than take some ph balanced leather cleaner, a clean white terry cloth, some elbow grease, and then look at the cloth. If you don't maintain your leather properly, you should see the dirt on the cloth very well.

Point is with leather, you should be cleaning/conditioning it weekly/monthly depending on the enviorment the car is in, and the type of cleaner/conditioner you use.

I've heard if you clean leather with something not specifically for it, its good to wipe it afterwards with a clean damp cloth to remove any of the agent that may do damage if left on for a period.

My shoes say not to clean them with anything that has silicone in it because it breaks down the seals/ stitching. Seams like it would have a similiar effect on seat fabrics especially leather but I am not sure.

Anyways hello everybody. One of these days I hope to ask you all a question

i talked to the guys who detail for mercedes the other day.. they use vaseline.. yes vaseline to keep that soft supple look ongoing.. it also helps to prevent cracking during the winter months.. try it in a small spot and you will see the results easily.. the better part is that it doesnt feel greasy and get all over your clothes like other protectants/cleaners

Umm...I'd have to see this to believe it. Why not just use a good leather conditioner/protectant? I suppose they save money this way.

Maybe vaseline (or something derived) is a main ingridient in the other "branded" products.

Maybe its like Tylenol and Acetominophen, same stuff, different price.

Is there any other place besides ACE that sales Lexol? I went to Walmart, Target, and Auto Zone. I couldn't find it. I guess I'm going to have to do a search for ACE Hardwares in my area or buy it off the internet. Can you use a towel to apply the stuff to the leather? Do you guys use Armoral for the dash and doors?

Thanks

Autozone didn't have it? Murrays has it and I'm sure Advance does. Yes I used a towel. Armorall low shine is ok to use IMO.

Wow glad to see my thread took off so well! Anyways as an update I am using meguiars cleaner/conditioner (all in one) works pretty good. Someone tipped me off at the start of this threat to use the mister clean magic eraser and that thing is the best thing ever. I was just wondering if anyone prefers any of the other magic erasers? I use the plain one
