Help me clean this dashboard stain

For 2 years I had one of those Radioshack Stickymats, which hold objects on the dash. Upon removal today, I found that it left its mark on my dash.

The residue is dry, won't rub off, and I need suggestions on how to get rid of it.

Goof Off maybe? Try a spot that cant be seen first to make sure it doesnt damage the finish. Its rough stuff but can get a lot of things off.

Yes, goo gone works well on these things I believe. I've used it before on similar things. Can be found at wal-mart. Even some grocery stores.

Definitely try goo-gone or some bug&tar remover, but that looks like the plastic started to fade to me...

+1 looks faded/rubbed off. Go easy on the goo gone, that stuff will take the matte silver finish right off and leave you with black ABS plastic. Worst case scenario - buy a new door. They can't be THAT much from the dealer, or junkyard.

+1

Then you can have your old one to practice running that wire to the GPS through the door and in the dash!

IIRC, that panel isn't too expensive to replace. I'd just do that.

The original plastic there is weird anyway...if you hit it with the wrong spray/protectant it will leave weird residue streaks.

Also, if you do end up replacing the panel, some A33 I30 models had a pocket with a hinged cover there instead of the fixed panel. Could do that too probably (if you want the pocket).

Whew....nevermind. I looked into it a few years back for doing a project but I could have sworn it was less than that. Then again my memory's not what it used to be...

I've had a similar problem. I have a 97 sentra and some sharpie written all over the dash, any clue how to get rid of it?

I don't really care if I have to lightly sand it, or whatever, it's silver sharpie on charcoal plastic. . . . . and I've taken the dash and stuff out before, I'm not taking it all out and replacing it. . . . .

If it leaves a residue or streaks, no big deal. . . . it's a 11 year old DD

Have you tried a Mr. Clean Magic eraser on the Sharpie stains?

Maybe the sun did fade it and it's not savable. I'd buy a new piece if you could.
