Chips after clay-ing

Just clay'ed and waxed the car. Looks great, but there are a few small problems

Granted, by the time I was done, it was a little dark. But it LOOKS like, in a few spots, the paint is scraped/chipped off. There are no scratches, so I don't think it was due to a small particle stuck in the clay. A couple spots look like only the clear coat was stripped, but the others look like there is no paint left. They're very small spots. I washed beforehand with dish soap and made sure it was pretty clean and the old wax was stripped.

I'll have to look again in the full daylight and confirm it. Am I going crazy, or can a clay bar do something like that? I wasn't pressing that hard...

Sounds like you discovered new stone chips.

+1. A clay bar wouldn't cause chips. Longer scratches yes, if it had been contaminated with a sharp particle.

i think your chips where just covered in "stuff" and the claybar revealed them..... same thing happened to me on certain parts of my hood and bumper.

just get some touch up paint...and instead of using the little brush it comes with, fill in your chips with paint with a toothpick... let it dry for a couple days and then buff and wax the area...its worked for me in the past. you just have to take your time and be patient.
