what are your thoughts on this product. And another question I had would be what is the point of the cleaner wax and how would you apply the wax?
Sorry to anyone who may not feel that this is a important question

All clay on the market in America is made by Clay Magic (holders of the US patent and sued everyone else making clay) so it really doesn't matter which kit you get. If your paint isn't absolutely glass smooth, then you need to clay.
A cleaner wax usually has chemical cleaners instead of abrasives and is fine for paint in good condition. Won't remove swirls though.

Claying is a great step in detailing your car. Use it after washing and it will remove all the particles of road grime, sap, bugs...etc that are embedded into your clearcoat. Mothers, Meguiars, Sonus and many others all make a good clay bar.
If you get one, make sure to break it into pieces and not use entire bar at once. If you drop the whole thing on the ground, you're SOL.

Depending on how dirty the car is, you may not actually see a difference by looking at it. BUT, you will definitely notice a difference in how the surface feels. After washing, the paint surface will still have tiny bumps and particles that you'll feel with your hand. If you do a good job claying, it will be smooth as glass.

I've been using Clay Magic clay bar for the last 5 years and I love it. I usually do it only once a year (wish I could do more), but it always shows results. And by shows, I really mean it feels awesome. I would recommend washing the car quickly after you clay it to get the residue off the car before polishing or waxing it.
As far as the longevity of a clay-bar, it really depends on how big/small of a piece you're using and how much dirt you're removing from the car's paint surface. Honestly, I've used the same bar for 3 different cars, multiple times each. I would still be very careful to store it in a sealed container and not let it get too hot or cold. If you drop it though...its done. I would just eye-ball it after every use and if it looks good, you're probably ok.
one quick question... when you wash your car is it recommended to clay bar right away? I don't have a driveway and would prefer to have it hand washed first then clay it myself(cheaper) so it would require some driving home from the carwash first...
thanks!
thanks!
just wipe the panel down with a damp cloth before you clay it, I washed my car drove 30 miles to and from class and then clayed it
it comes with a bar and a spray material, spray the material on the car and just rub the clay bar on till it's smooth repeat steps till the entire car is smooth then was and wax and your car will be smooth to the touch and shiney, after all you shouldn't feel any kinda dirt on the car, during the process of claybaring it's best to touch over the spots you've went over to make sure it's smooth to the touch.
When your doing it you have to keep the car wet and keep rubbing the bar on, you'll have to use your finger tips to feel if it's smooth, then wash and wax the car and it should be very smooth to the touch and as you say sick, I need to do it again soon, you should notice a great improvement unless your cars already faded or something.
If your wanna silky smooth, you need to polish and wax..remove all the fine scratches.
btw...if you guys go to youtube and type in clay bar, there's a great vid that teaches how to clay bar... One important factor which nobody mentioned (im assuming) is that you don't need to force the clay bar into the paint, just spray the cleaner and just glide the bar over the car.
really depends how you do it but, wash and dry and then clay it, you can wash it again but I usually don't, I just wipe it down with 1 of the many sprays they sell to wipe the car down, the stuff they say you use in between waxes to maintain protection or just use a spray bottle of water.
so I wash, dry, clay, wax it, sometimes they advise you to rewash cause clay bar residue might be left over on the paint but when you clay just spray the surface good and glide the bar with just enough pressure to hold it to the car, feel with your hand as you go, and you will feel the wet glass feeling, so some areas will take 5 seconds some will take 5 minutes, an entire car might take 2 hours and don't sweat it, do it over a weekend, clay it friday afternoon and wax it saturday.
