Quick IM cleaning question

I purchased a SSIM a while ago and I am going to give it a good cleaning because it still had some metal dust in it and some grease marks on the surface.

Would it matter if I used all purpose citrus cleaner, engine/tire degreaser, bug/tar remover on it, or would it screw something up once installed?

I plan on using one of those or a combination, as long as it gets the job done and I will be scrubbing it with a plastic bristled brush.

Run a hose through it or use air.

I know that will work for the metal dust, but what about the grease/grime stuff IN the grooves on the surface?

Dude, come on now. When you take your IM out, take a look inside and you'll see what I mean.

There will be literally tiny puddles of oil in some spots.

From: Auburn WA,
A few years ago I sandblasted mine and it came out real nice. It could use it againg though because over time it got dull again.

I recently got a spare IM that I'll do the SSIM to. I'm going to polish the outside before I install it. *Bling*

Polishing=shows that there might be something...I want an OEM look

I just tried bug/tar, degreaser, all-purpose citrus and it got some of it out, but now all of it

NOW, will any of the "chemicals" effect anything...?

Use either lacquer thinner or mineral spirits...should come right off.
