leather care

I bought some lexol and since I want to use lexol on the leather and 303 protectant on the vinyl, I had to find what was real leather or not. Since the imitation is really good, I tried with a LED flashlight and it made the real leather look "gray" and the vinyl look real black. Plus, the real leather has deeper grain details, and it has a triangular shape. The vinyl grain is not deep, and it's kind of rounded.

04 maxima, so far (might not be the same on 05,+...):

Leather:
Steering wheel, shift **** and ebrake. Front part of the front seats, including the bolsters, everywhere your body touches. Front head rests (yeah, I know, weird. Even the back of the front headrests looked like leather to me. only a little part at the bottom looked like vinyl).

Back seats: everything where your back and bottom touch, including the rear arm rest. When you lower the rear arm rest, the top part is leather also. The top parts of the back seats, including the head rests are vinyl.

What I think is strange:

Whole fromt headrests are leather, and the whole rear headrests are vinyl. Would have been wiser to put leather on the front of em all.

The front arm rest in the center is ALL vinyl, even the top part where you rest your arm. Kinda retarded. 99% sure, Ive spent almost 30 minutes looking at it from all angles, with all possible light sources. Plus, it didnt "drink" the lexol, it's just all sticky.

What's your opinion on this? Anyone with a 04 disagrees?

I hope that 05+ have a front leather arm rest...

If you have teh money, it would be well-spent on getting aftermarket leather covers for the seats. My Momo steering wheel has fabulous leather on it - much thicker and softer than the shzit on the OEM steering wheel, and the Momo wheel was a factory option for JDM 350Zs.
My Recaro seats are all leather and nicer leather as well. I replaced my E brake boot with solid leather. Total cost was maybe $2000 well spent money considering you are touching most of these items almost the whole time ur driving
