How TO: Clean your door jams with pics
How TO: Clean your door jams with pics
well from the day i got my 5.5 which was 1 year ago, i noticed the DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY door jams, i never seen anything like it in my life. i guess its all the highway miles on my car, but still they were soooo nasty the dirt grime was caked on realllly bad.
i tryed to clean with soap water, glass cleaner and nothing worked. so i gave up and delt with it.
untill finally i found something that worked, KRUD KUTTER, got it from lowes
on with the pics

dirty son!!!!!!

sprayed on, took a tooth brush cleand it all, then hosed it off, i done this 2-3 times to make sure it was all clean,
DO NOT leve the krud kutter on for long, its VERY strong and will take paint off......

all clean
man this literally makes the car feel bran new, its sooo much cleaner , idk if its just me but the door jams being dirty drove me insane, and now im happy, these things are clean as ever!!!!!!!!
something i would reccomend to anyone selling a car!!! even if you dont look at the door jam, if its clean it will go noticed !!

keep on doing that!!!!
prolly, i only had to use tuff stuff cuz myne was horrible, im sure most ppl's is no where near this bad
i had to scrape with my fingernail just to get it to come off for that pic......
i can not explain how nasty this was. it was STUCK ON worse than anything ive ever cleaned...
that's disgusting!!! Bug&Tar remover would have done the same thing, but without the risk of stripping paint. I did my dad's engine bay with it and here here are some before/after pictures.

Some time and good finger ****ing ended up in a great finished product

A degreaser such as purple power or simple green work great...I use purple power cut 1/2 water 1/2 degreaser(just to avoid possibly messing up the paint) and it works very well with door jambs..just need some small tools to get in there and scrub.
i don't know about using something that will strip paint off. Soap/Water, Simple green, Meg's APC, and the such would have done just fine.
I've seen door jambs like that at work, usually just a terry cloth towel and some soapy water knocks it right off.

*shrugs shoulders*
yea but that requires alot of elbow grease...rather use the purple power/simple green and hit that bad boy w/ a 1-2 punch lol
Very nice, very nice.
Be a good time to give it another wash with some good ole car wash and water again (or ONR if you have it) and wax the living daylights out of those jams. If you think they look good now, wait till you wax em. Easier cleaning next time too!

Now that I have explained myself, let me say that the car looks great! I am so glad that you are taking good care of it. Keep up the good work!

Here are a few pictures of the only time the car was not driven, just before I sold it!
Edited for spelling.

I am the original owner of your car. I owned the car since new in 2002. In less than 5 years, I put on close to 150,000 miles on the car. It had been through 5 New England winters prior to me selling the car in January 2007. I only wish I could have detailed the car the way it was supposed to be done. However, I have a wife and three young boys at home. When I wasn't on the road for work, I spent my time with my family and not with my car. That doesn't mean that I didn't take care of the car. I ALWAYS had any mechanical issues addressed when they came up. I am sure that you can attest to that with the file of papers that Mike should have given you when he sold the car to you.
