Magic Eraser on Leather

I know that if was already mentioned in a couple of other threads, but is a magic eraser safe for leather?? I used it today followed up by a lexol conditioning, but I am just worried about down the line, having problems with it i.e. (drying, rotting, cracking). I hope I'm just overthinking it..... It did a wonderful job of restoring the leather though!!

I've been reading on it and supposedly it's fine to use once in a while to really clean the leather, but for regular washing/maintain, you should use water + woolite and any protection after.

I've used it once on leather and it ruined it especially on the darker colors. I'd stick to water maybe simple green or professional grade leather cleaner

The best thing I've used to clean leather is a foaming ammoniated glass cleaner. I would spray an area, and use a wet bug scrubbing sponge to scrub with. I would then use a wringed out synthetic chamois to wipe clean the area. Rinse and wring the chamois again, and rewipe. You'll be amazed how clean that will get your leather.

bug sponge...

^^^ This, I have detailed cars now for 13 years smmfh, But what i feel works best is a bug sponge what T BEHR's got there or a fine broken in scotch pad and a little diluted all purpose cleaner and your good to go.

The bug pad also works a bit better when it's been broken in. I've also used diluted apc as well. I like how ammoniated foaming glass cleaner works. It stays in place without running, and the ammonia works well breaking down dirt and grease.

When I used to detail/clean cars, I would be amazed at how nasty steering wheels can get. Women's cars tend to be worse, since they use more lotions and moisturizers on their hands than men do. If the steering wheel was beige, you could see all the nasty gunk and funk that would build up on the wheel.

all the methods for cleaning are good except for the eraser BUT THE BEST THING after u clean ur leather seats is HARLEY DAVIDSON LEATHER CONDITIONER
i use this on my bike and its subject to the outside elements and my sest is so soft and clean and not shiny to slide off of it just saying
it works great

I second this. Meguiars makes a great all purpose cleaner that is safe. I usually will follow it up with a Megs leather conditioner.
