Removing evidence of women drivers...

Hey guys, my wife was driving my max yesterday since I had her outback (she hit someone and the insurance guy was coming over to my work)...and another lady decides to try and go around her at a stoplight, but misjudges the clearance. Results are below:

It looks like a dent on the bottom corner but it actually is not...its a shadow. There is no dent, the only evidence of a collision is the scraping of paint that you see in the pic. That's it. Bumper alignment is all good, nothing else.

I'm not going to do a claim on the insurance, so how do I fix this myself?

I was thinking since I have a 3M headlight restore kit...just use the gray pad (with water spray) and the soft orange foam pad with rubbing compound...finish off with mothers powerball and wax (all of which I have in my garage).

What do you think?

And if its in need of touch up paint, is the rattle can stuff good so long as its factory colormatched?

More angles...as you can see there actually IS a bit of misalignment, where the top corner of bumper meets the taillight assembly meets the rear pillar body panel.

One body shop I took it to gave me a written estimate for 495 bucks.... will probably call the lady that hit it tomorrow.

And the scratches and scuffs are relatively deep in a couple places...

you can use a power ball to take the scuffs out. as far as the gouges, not sure, may have to use a body filler...

Yeah I'm gonna wash it tomorrow and see about the powerball with compound... hell ill be happy if I can just bend the thing back into somewhat alignment and get most of the scratches removed and touched up...

That's gonna need a repaint. A good body shop can blend it in, but it would probably be best just to have the entire bumper cover prepped and resprayed.

Meh, just leave it as a reminder to not let her drive again unless you can do it yourself

I got it fixed no problem.

But remember, my wife wrecked HER carf two days earlier, and the above damage was caused by another chick. So yeah, it was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but accurate.

For the record I called the lady who hit her, and she ended up reporting to her insurance. So it was fixed with a new bumper cover at no cost to me.
