165.5 WHP/173.1WIb/Ft Dyno?

This was my first time on the dyno. I'm pretty happy but I was expecting a little more tourqe. Anybody see anything wrong? Is this about right for a 95 auto with y-pipe, pulley, cat, 2.5 catback, intake?

BTW, sorry about the bad graph. I can't seem to scan it well.

125K. Do you think they didn't start the pull early enough? Doesn't peak tourqe come in at 2800. I'm gonna go back and make em give me a free run cause they started so late. Look at that, in one of the runs they didn't start till 3500.

Take a look at my last dyno, in my sig. My peak was right before 2500rpm.

Do you have the original runviewer files? It's usually a really good idea to get those so you can upload the files to a dynoviewer at anytime you need to compare things.

If you have the originals let me know, I'm curious to see them.

They definitely did start it late...

I might be able to get the originals. I went to the only place in Madison and they've only been open a year. I'll call em tomorrow. Is a dynoviewer shareware? If so where can I download. If they don't keep them on file I'm going to show em your dyno and ask for some more pulls. BTW, those are some nice numbers. What mods do you have? It looks to me like your peak TQ was at 4600. Mine is at 3200. Whats up with my max?

1) It's impossible to start the dyno at very low RPMs in 3rd gear because if you go WOT, the tranny will shift to second.

2) I had the same mods on my 97 auto and dynoed ~171hp & ~185tq. Perhaps you need a lil' tuneup? BTW, MrEous has manual; he should have higher numbers.

3) I wouldn't worry about your graph showing your peak tq @ 3200 RPMs. It's just one of those oddities. How many pulls did they do? Post those graphs, too, if you have 'em. I don't think your power should level off in the midrange like this graph shows. Again...perhaps a lil' tuneup?

Those spikes at 2500 and 2800 aren't really your peak numbers. That's just what happens when the drivers gets on the throttle. Sometimes happens at 2K sometimes at 3K depending on the test.

Here's a really good example of that happening. The tq scale is on the right. The blue tq line never even get's close to 200 during the run but the spike shows a peak of 207. Yeah right.

Stock peak tq is at 4000rpm. You can move that +/- say 600rpm but not much further.

Oh yeah...sorry, I forgot you were auto. It is a lot harder to dyno an auto so there is always the 'weirdness' at the beginning.

They did the pulls in third. I just called and spoke with the guy that was driving and he explained about the downshifting thing. They are emailing me the file tonight. Is there any way to lock out 2nd for dynoing? Do you think there is anything seriously wrong? I'm only getting 17 more ponies with all these mods. I thought Y-pipe was supposed to be at least 10. CalsonicSE, what mods did you have and how many miles? They are emailing me the file tonight.

There's no way to lock out 2nd on the auto tranny. It's okay...Don't be too concerned about that very low RPM power.

I had ~70k miles on my car. Mods were PR CAI, Stillen y-pipe, RT cat, custom 2.5" cat-back, & UR UDP - basically the same mods as you.

Wow you really did have the same mods as me. So the only reason I'm making so much less is because I have almost twice the miles? That makes me wonder what my compression is like. I hope my cylinder walls don't look like the moon. Any other possible culprits. ie: vacum leaks ....anything?

I got the file and i downloaded the viewer but when I try to open it gives errors.

Sorry you're getting errors...
Do you have ZIP?
Did you click on the ZIP link?

Problems you may have could consist of needing a tuneup or it could also just simply be the dyno you tested on. Send your files to jwharton@skinceuticals.com

I did use the zip link. I'd try your link but I'm not home now. What do you mean by a tune up. I've been slowly doing the 120k work. Just did NGK Cold plugs, fuel filter, cleaned intake manifold, clean IAC valve, sort of cleaned EGR system. Can a vacum leak cause that loss of power. I removed my manifold to polish the runners and paint the outside and of course I had to remove some vacum lines from the TB.

You used colder plugs??? Many ppl including me have dynoed less power when using colder plugs compared to regular heat range plugs. There's really no reason to use colder plugs when you are N/A (I used them for nitrous). My colder plugs dyno was ~167hp & ~176tq. I bet you'll get more power with regular heat range plugs...
