new dyno tool?

http://www.franklinracingproducts.com/

How does it work? Well, basically the Road Dyno System is a precision timing system that looks at a record of engine RPM over time. Based on when a single spark plug fires, the program can compute acceleration, and therefore, power. The user must supply the car's weight, gear ratios, tire sizes, and some other variables, but the rest is pure physics. This is not a power estimating program! The Road Dyno System measures the power of your engine directly by making precise measurements. Road Dyno System measures power by the same method as a chassis dyno. Instead of measuring the amount of power required to accelerate a drum, you are measuring the amount of power required to accelerate the car. This is really what you are interested in anyway isn't it?

Some cars may even perform differently on a chassis dyno because the car is not actually moving. Accelerating the car has an effect on fuel in the bowl of the carburetor (if you happen to have one of those), oil distribution through the engine, air resistance, turbo airflow etc, etc. The Road Dyno System will allow you to accurately measure the amount of power your car is putting to the ground, which is an invaluable tool when doing aftermarket modifications. The Road Dyno System takes hundreds of power measurements through the entire power band of the engine being tested. This provides enough resolution to be able to analyze performance parameters like spark advance, knock retard, power drops as a result of fuel pressure, etc.

For more detailed information Download the Road Dyno System Instruction Manual.

Road Dyno creates detailed graphs of power & torque. Power measurements from 1HP to 1000HP!
so does this work? has anyone tried it? does it measure the fuel/air ratio for advanced tuning info? (if this just gives hp and tq, this would be pointless right?).

i found this in grassroots motor sports mag wanted to know more info if its worth the 150 so i dont have to spend that every time to goto the dyno.

im also looking for an air to fuel ratio device to tune the car. i dont want to pay the 300+ dollers for the apexi one. i need something cheap, but something that will do the trick and good. any suggestions.

I have road dyno. Now compared to a dynapack road dyno is alittle off in wtq but close in whp, but then again that is comparing 3rd gear vs 4th. However as long as you do your testing on the same road in both directions it will function as well as a dyno. Now to use it as anything other than a tuning tool with be a great misuse. I'm happy with my purchase of it.
