disappointed in dyno numbers

I had my 2k max dynoed the other day and i was real disappointed in the results and i was wondering if anyone new why. I have the following mods done to the motor:
Cattman CAI
Cattman Y pipe, fast cat, cat back
DIY Grounding kit
AFCII(with dyno tuning)
Timing advance.

WIth these mods i only dynoed at 166 hp and 190 tq

SERIOUSLY if anyone can help me with this i would GREATLY appreciate it. I was told that the SES light can effect the HP rating of the motor so i had that cleared and checked.

I would really like someones input on these numbers, i think they are low for the potential that this engine has.

thank you in advance for all your help.

Do you have a chart? Better yet, did you take a copy of the runfiles?

Is your VIAS working? Irish44J had similar numbers to yours with a broken VIAS.

See: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=466415

And other threads in that forum.

This should be in the DYNO forum.

A single hp/tq number is useless. Post up the hp/tq vs rpm curves and you will get some informed responses.

Do you have the vq35 w 255 horse and torque? I can tell you this that the grounding kit wont show you anything. Think about it if your car wasnt grounded correctly your car would not start lights wouldnt work and stereo wouldnt turn on. The ground kit is a money making deal. I work on much higher HP engines than the Maximas and a good ground is all you need. Did you advance the timing thru the ECU? What is the advetised hp rating of your engine? Also what trans you have.. a manual or auto. Autos typically eat about 25% of the engine power due to needed that energy to turn the parts in the trans as well as the friction prduced by the fluids. A manual will take about 10-15% powerr away.
So a 200 hp engine will theoretically will have 175 WHP

Official #'s from Nissan are 255 hp and 246 lb/tq. And no, he does not have that engine. This can be verified by the year of his car, which is a 200. The VQ35 came in the 02+ Maximas.

How else would you do it? Turn the distributor? Tak MAF V out...

The advance the original poster is referring would not have any affect on peak #'s.

222.

A graph would be very helpful. The 00-01 have the VQ30DE-K. The 02+ got the VQ35. Bone stock 4th gens with there usim have dynoed higher then that. Most of them dyno in the mid 160 range. You should be a lot higher then that considering you already have the variable intake. I think your VIAS could be broken.

It's possible for it to move and not work, yes.

Wow dude. To avoid being flamed I would definately do a little more reading before posting a question like this. It means variable intake that came on the 2000-2001 VQ30DE-K engine.

or maybe there is something wrong with the engine. Considering your an auto, your numbers are not that far off what they should be. headers would give the most significant gains, while udp, gorunding wires and intake giving minimal gains. Id say you should be around the 190 range.

I am reffering to Arthur Glaziers comment.

I dont think its the 3.0 that take power well, because a 3.0 in a 4th gen 5spd with intkae, ypipe, catback puts down around 180hp/185tq. Although your guys top end is much better.

I did not mean all 3.0 engines. I mean the maxima engine made for the 2000-2001 models. Your correct the 4th gens put out better num. but they use a different ecu then 2000-2001 do.and dont they have 1 cat and 2 o2 sensors,+ less smog stuff.too.
