my stockers are 50 i think. you need to look for a lighter tire though, you can easily find a good one in the 21lbs range if its a 225/50 17. 23 would be the max weight of a tire i would buy

My 245-45-17’s are 23lbs. 37.5 lbs/corner FTW. My 4th gen honeycombs are 39.5lbs (15")
Damn nissan and there boat anchors. My stock 97-99SE's with tires were 46.1lbs per corner LOL. My new combo 17x8 and 235/45/17 weigh in at 38.2 which is very respectable. (15.7rim, 22.5 tire)
I remember when i was swapping my tires to put on my new rims, i grabbed my old rim took it off then went to pick up my new one and i almost hit my self in the face..i was expecting it to be about the same so i used too much effort
Anyhow the numbers are very respectible. I think with a aftermarket intake of some sort, be that a pop charger or cold air, personally i would not buy a CAI, just not a fan of them and there top end issues that ive seen/read about. You have a lot more potential out of that VQ man!! Keep up the good work!

I'm dropping ~20lbs from each corner. My Michelin's weigh close to 10lbs less than OEM Potenzas. And the Axis Hiros (21lbs) weigh exactly 10lbs less than my OEM rims (31lbs). I should have a final wheel weight of about 40-42lbs.

I did the calculations and Im only saving 30lbs by going lightweight...the tire is 24lbs + 16lbs for the rims = 40 combined. Isnt the weight for a stock rim/tire around 45lbs? I actually weighed my stock rims and they are 45 each..

it doesnt work like that. what is important is how much weight is away from the center of the rim. it is possible for your oem rims to weight less the further from the rim you get compared to the axis you bought.
all that is important is the weight you can shave from the outer edges of the wheel/tire setup. the simple easiest way to do that is to run a smaller wheel/rim.

your stock combo weighs 60 lbs?!?!?!?! and that means your stock tires weigh almost 30lbs? WTF? must have enough tread on there to last the life of the car

Tuning needs to be done in the wide thr map correct? I think the shop that tuned before never did that
When I tuned before I had 6th gen 18s (now on stock 17s), I had the whole stock header/ypipe in my trunk and I was on the stock intake. Im putting my jwt popcharger back on for the hell of it

Adding a berk midpipe w/ jwt popcharger during the next few days after finals are done with...
Also, the dyno was done with heavy **** 6th gen max rims...any chance those hindered better dyno numbers? g35 ray's 19'' rims should be coming on soon...since those are lighter Im hoping for better numbers along with the new intake setup (I was on the stock intake/airbox when I dynod)

I suppose....Im just gonna toss the jwt popcharger on this time to make a comparison. but then again, you cant really compare when the dyno-tune the 1st time around was done the wrong way.
I'll bump this thread in a while when the new tune is done. Only problem is my SES just came on b/c my 02 sim is malfunctioning...hope that wont interfere with tuning

It will not affect your #'s.
It's widely joked about that the dynojet is referred to as the internet dynos since, it's really the only quantitative way to compare cars from around the world on the same playing field.

NmexMax you do realize your saying that my popcharger will yield 10whp right? That would be nice but I think it will be a combination of that + the added weight I had before when I dyno'd (Stock header, ypipe, 6th gen 18s) that I wont have this time around. Im not expecting my wtq to go up that much if at all but I sure am hoping the whp gains a bit. But we'll see...thanks for the input

Also, I'm still uncertain that your tuner knows how to extract all tuning points (24) from the VAFC. It seems as if was pioneered on tis site, so ask him that first.

k so I went there today to talk to my friend and the other guy who works there. Basically I was told I need the technosquare ecu that eliminates the "self-learn" feature that the stock ecu has. Otherwise once I get tuned with the VAFC the stock ecu will relearn the stock settings in a matter of no time. He has done this MANY times and told me he tuned this guy's car one time and got the most recent numbers from the dyno. He went to the dyno 2 weeks afterward b/c he was curious and the numbers were no where near the numbers he got from dynoing after the tune.
He said the technosquare ecu will allow me to hold the most current tuning settings by the VAFC...the stock ecu will, over time, relearn.
Im testing it out next week. Im getting the car dyno'd only to see if I still make 230/240...this should be interesting

It couldn’t hurt. I don’t know what it was, so I’m not saying it’s this or that but those were my results.. The POP charger, the timing, combination of the 2, different day, I really don’t know, but whatever it was, it was significant.

its something that I could get so easily though and done within a few minutes so might as well. thanks for your input throughout all this...i'll post up the graphs in the coming days when I dyno again. Wednesday looks good...$75 for 3 pulls
all 4th gen, 5th gen and 6th gens have Self Learn, heck all cars pretty much have a self learn feature.
+2* and PoP...hopefully the 20hp+ was all done on a Clayton dyno.

Ok, but the A34 has actually proven to override the settings over a matter of time. A32-A33B, both do not show this behavior. Search this forum for my name as the thread starter for dynos of said phenomena. I do not dyno on a clayton.

k so its going on the dyno tomorrow at 10am. Nmex, if you say the self-learn is not a problem with the 5.5 gens, then ideally I should pull similiar numbers than when I first dyno-tuned right...230/240? I'll post up the results when I get home tomorrow

eh...I could add the popcharger but I choose not to. Im afraid it might lean the AFR out and since Im not getting tuned, I wont do it. But before I get the actual tuning, i'll toss it back on and do the advance timing.
Im trying to keep the setup similiar to how it was before so this way I could accurately see whether self-learn has taken place or not.
