2005 SE-R Dyno

low numbers....

Video:
http://s68.photobucket.com/albums/i1...218_155002.mp4

upon looking at the exhaust manifold, i found three holes! wtfreak!?

now my question is, could these holes cause me to lose all that hp? what could be causing such a drop?

modifications are: intake, cattman y/b pipe, nwp spacers

Looks about where I would expect for your mods right up until just before 5.5k...Something is definitely wrong at that point. It looks more severe than an exhaust leak could cause, but I'm no expert.

Why does it drop at 5.5k? Exhaust leaks arent really going to cause loss in power IMO.

I'm trying to determine why I've got that drop. Maybe spark plugs? One of the hole is right under a o2 sensor.....I've had the coils and injectors replaced...

Yes, exhaust leaks CAN cause you to lose power. Especially when you're getting in fresh air through there and the o2 sensors are seeing that. They will richen up the mixture to prevent engine damage since they think the engine is running leaner. That's probably what's happening. The ECU naturally dumps in tons of fuel past 5k but with those exhaust leaks.. the condition might be getting worse.

If you're under warranty contact the dealer and they'll replace them. If not, shouldn't cost more then $20 bucks to have a shop weld it up for you.

your #'s look about right for the mods what did you put down before. To me it looks like the dyno operator either let off or there was a problem with the signal. A exhaust leak of that size at high rpms will not cause a power loss

No expert either going to dyno before the end of the year to see where I'm at.

if the graph keeps going, it looks like it should be hitting around 250-260.....so would that be enough to rob me of 20 hp???

If I recal correctly, if the car is in open loop mode, the ECU doesnt alter fuel maps based on O2 signals. Someone correct me if i'm wrong though.

That's a bit optimistic. I think you would have plateaued around 235'ish WHP and then it would have stayed that way till maybe 6300-6400 where you might see it start falling just a tad.

Yes, essential1 you're right. The O2 sensors don't play any role in open-loop. But this is also assuming that the ECU isn't in closed loop during the runs due to a richening A/F? I've seen it before where cars we'll be in closed loop even when at WOT and will just out-right start pissing fuel out of the exhaust. But it could be possible this could be a missed signal, detonation and/or a mistake by the dyno operator.

Any codes OP? What did they use to get a RPM signal? What was the A/F?

My advice is get those exhaust leaks fixed and do a re-dyno. See if that helps any. If it doesn't then the problem is obviously somewhere else. If it does, then.. there we go.

haha i'm hoping it's just the holes. just bought some new plugs...eliminates that opion.

i have a p0173. it's an a/f code, which makes sense since the exhaust leak... i'm always optimistic

There's a thin line between optimism and delusion.

With your mods, 235-240 is about where I'd peg it. 250-260 would require a bit more work.

P0173 = Exhaust leak pretty much. Get it fixed!
