Having huge difficulty accessing forum pages

All of a sudden I'm continuously getting "Internet Explorer cannot open the website" messages. No connection problems exist at my end, at least according to Windows diagnosis.

About the only way I can get anything to come up is to be quick enough on the draw to stop the page load before it finishes and throws the message, and go through a couple of refresh/stop cycles. Hammer away enough and I get through.

But it's a real PITA. Does anybody have an idea what might have happened to cause this issue, or what might fix it?

I am not nearly computer-connection literate enough to even think about running a different browser, just want to fix what I've been working with for the last ten years or so.

Thanks for any help. Even if I can't get to the reply on the forum, I'll at least be able to read some of them as emailed notices of reply to topic.

Edit - the new reply window went "cannot open" immediately upon submitting, but editing to add this line seems to work a little better.

This is not the only forum that I'm having difficulty with at home. So far at work there doesn't seem to be any problems yet, but a lot of stuff gets blocked.

If in fact it is the advertisements that are causing this problem, the advertisers and forum administration need to realize that when the PITA level gets to a certain point, or continues past some length of time, the ads will absolutely go unread. As will, unfortunately, everything else.

if there's an ad that's blocking your view to the site then let me know what URL it links to.
the DoS attacks are ongoing but that shouldn't affect you from accessing the site...at least today.

let me know otherwise.

Cosigned. Org is WAY slower and a lot of the time, pages wont load unless triple clicked. It doesnt happen all the time, but when it does, it stays that way for a while....

Been having problems lately too. I can access the main page, but once I click a thread it'll load, then as if I hit the back button, it would go back to the homepage. Don't know if this is the same problem, but been a pain trying the read the forums.

Post #1, paragraph 2. Once in a while you can beat the message with the 'Stop' while still being "late" enough for the page to load.

I have a lot of trouble accessing the forum from the homepage, it's quite weird, if I type in the address forums.maxima.org/blahblahblah it goes RIGHT to the page, but if I click the link on the homepage (maxima.org) then i get this problem where I have to refresh a gazillion times to get to the forums

This has been happening to me since the winter or fall.

And after re-reading the OP it isn't quite the same problem as his, I was just replying based on the title of the thread....

Refresh button is definitely overused over here too nowadays. It goes for loading ANYTHING lately....pages, sections, sending PM's, etc

Oddly enough I do have problems, slow loading or no response to clicking anything. Sometimes I can't even get to the forums, it will only show motm an that's it! After hittin refresh an actually retyping the org address then it will work, an all this from an iPhone. Maybe that's my problem but I can access hondatech an fullsizebronco an ck5 with no hesitation at all, weird

My home computer won't access any of the org pages. I've been posting via phone for a week or so now. Reset my networking equipment, still no change. The only thing I can think of is that I'm utilizing Google DNS. Any thoughts?

I'm going to try a diff DNS server. May be my ISP because I have no issues on the phone or at work. However this issue only happens with maxima.org and my350z.com... Maybe a new vbulletin update screwed something up?

I had tried both another "user" on this PC, another laptop, and an ancient desktop, all to no avail. Clicking on it as a favorite, following a link such as from a notice of reply to topic, or typing the address out directly made no difference. My thanks to all of you who posted suggestions and noted other symptoms.

I was all set to upgrade to IE9, but found out that I don't have a recent enough version/service pack of the operating system, and upgrading that is asking me for information that I do not know the answer to. Dead end, at least for now.

In the meantime, the corporate internet filter decided that the .org is a newsgroup and won't let me in from the office.

But . . . and crossing my fingers, the problem seems to have gone away just as suddenly as it appeared.

The .org wasn't the worst-affected site, but it was the first occurrence. Thirdgen.org and MustangForums were affected worse and MUCH worse, respectively. But access to several other sites was completely unaffected.

We'll see how long things stay this way.

i know a few tweaks were made...but not sure how that will effect you.
try your account at a friend's house or a relative and see how it looks there.

hopefully it stays working for you. sorry about the issues. sometimes it's really difficult to figure out if it's us or you.

DanNY, confirmed it's the same situation with all internetbrands websites. Is there some way my IP could have been blocked?
