Can changing MT fluid make existing leaks worse....

I have bad bearings in my 96 I30t 5speed. I have had a very slow leak at the trans-axel seal for a while now.

A few days ago i drained and filled my MT fluid, now the small leak has increased 10 fold. why?

Because the fresh clean fluid flows better.
