Switch To Synthetic

Question, I want some up to date info. Ive got 89K on my 99se and i really want to switch to synthetic. Problem is, ive heard bad stories about changing to synthetic with high miles. Is 89K to much for a Maxima, or will i be ok? i switch my oil regularly at about 2500 miles.
I ask because my dad recently changed to synthetic on his ford broncoII with 189,000 miles and no problems, and ive been hesitant because I think my car has too many miles to switch but i want to know your opinions. Thanks

i switched to synthetic at 134,000 miles. I heard about the same issues but didnt care because others said nothing would happen. I havent had any oil leaks or anything. I think you'll be fine at 89k

oh, i'm at 138.5k right now...

Do you have any oil leaks right now or does your engine burn oil at all? If you have either of these problems synthetic might make them worse. If you don't have either of these problems you'll be just fine.

If you change your oil every 2500 miles using synthetic is a waste of money, try Castrol GTX. If you look on the oil analysis spread sheet, it's got the same ware characteristics as any of the synthetics. If you are looking for slightly longer oil changer intervals, then by all means use the synthetic.
