If you look at the oil analysis spreadsheet, Royal Purple doesn't hold up well at all compared to other oils. It's on par with conventional oils for longevity. Amsoil, Redline and Mobil 1 all outperform RP over extended drain intervals past 4k. RP is definately a good oil for those who auto-x.

I run my cutlass at high rpms (for a V8) at great periods of time. I drag race it (legally) all the time it's a 12 sec car on nitrous It's only a daily driver in the summer i'll be honest i beat the car before i did the rebuild. I like the amsoil oil as well it's just not as easy to come by. The Royal Purple oil is nice i'll be honest i dont want to step on anyones toes here but you have to take the oil anaylasis chart with a grain of salt. Royal purple is good stuff and i can tell you there was less carbon build up, cam bearings, main bearings even the cam lobes look great for 36k miles on the engine at this tear down the car is driven hard. DOnt get me wrong I've run Amsoil and redline in the engine never mobil 1 that oil is **** i dont care what the anayasis says i just finish my friends rebuild on his 66 Biscayne 396ci and he lived by Mobil 1 synthetic every 3k miles and there so much Carbon build up sludge it was horrible. the bearings were scored more than usual for 22k miles i've rebuild many engine with no problem like this i just dont care much for that oil.

I was refering to the Mobil 1 SuperSyn. It's well known that the TriSyn was horrible. This post does point out what I was stating. RP is good for racing, but it's not good for extended drain intervals compared to other oils. Oil analysis on daily drivers should not be taken with a grain of salt "IF" you plan on longer drain intervals. I'm not brand loyal and I will go with whoever provides the best oil. Price/performance for a daily driver, RP isn't a good oil. Price/performance for racing applications, RP is an excellent motor oil.
