Redline MT-90 is the greatest.

Well, last Friday I changed my tranny fluid and put in Redline MT-90. At first the clutch shifted as usual, crappy, but today it started to work and now the shifts are smooth. I can change gears with ease and without any grinding of the gears. Anyway, I thought all of you who have problems with grinding gears would like to know that this stuff is for real. Hail to Redline.

I used it too on my previous tranny. My new tranny shifts pretty smoothly now with the stock fluid. I dunno if I will switch to Redline just yet.

redline is definitely great at what it does. At first when i put it in I didn't feel a difference cause I was still learning how to drive a manual at the time. Now a couple of months later it feels alot different

a couple of months later. I just bought some mt-90, hope it won't be that long for me. I would like it to work as soon as I put the stuff in.

come to think of it, i've been looking at the MT and was wondering where would you put the redline in. The same place you drain the old mtf?

I gotta change mine again and see if it improves... I never noticed an improvement in my 2000 5spd SE. The tranny is rather notchy, possibly a little worse than last summer but not by too much...

Redline MT-90 + 2K2 =

I changed it last fall (at about 12,000 miles) Smooth shifting, even in the cold weather and we had about a week of below zero temps in early February.

I think the problem many users experience is GL-5 (or GL-6) vs GL-4. I've finally found some gl-4 in 5gal buckets and it's so much better than the gl-5 mobil1 synth stuff.
My bro had mt-90 in his 93 max. after 2 years, he drained and filled w/gl-4... same great shifting.
glad y'all found something that works for easy snick-snick shiftin!

I received my MT-90 3 days ago and I'm gonna change tranny this Saturday. Not sure either if my tranny has the fluids changed either. Can't wait to see what comes out of the tranny, hoping for some awesome shifting.

Post results when I'm done.

Have you noticed that GL-5 is all they sell @ major autoparts store? Even the local nissan dealer uses Valvoline GL-5. GL-4 is pretty hard to find.
Why shouldn't they be running GL-5? Cuz the owners manual states so?

GL-5 will ruin the synchros on 6 speeds. If your dealer is using GL-5 for your manual transmission, find another dealer...fast!

The Redline MT-90 is a GL-4 formula.

My 5 quarts of mt-90 just came in. Been reading the installs, looks like a pain to get to the tranny box. One writeup suggests removing the fender while the other one doesn't. Anyone with experience tell us what's the difficulty of the job? I've changed the regular oil but not the tranny oil. Should i just pay some oil/lube center 10 bucks to help me change it?

The tranny box is easily accessed, its not even blocked by anything. Things are obviously easier if you have a lift. I'd be surprised if oil/lube place charge you only $10 bucks

We'll, we're providing the oil and normal oil cahnges are like 10-15 dollars. So it's like a 20 min job so that's why I say 10 bucks. I have jackstands. I'll probably give it to go tomorrow if the weather permits.

It only cost me $10 to from my local oil changing place. By the way, the shifts are getting smoother.

check the how to's. It's like changing your oil but you have to fill it up through a hole on the bottom of the tranny. I just changed mine today. I tried to get the fill hole off but just couldn't. (you'll need a 1/2" ratchet, they don't come standard in most toolboxes, I "borrowed" one from sears") I had to bring it to a oil change shop and they had to use a long hollow pole as a breaker bar to get it loose. they couldn't find the drain plug so they sucked the fluid out instead and popped a funnel with a hose extension and filled it up with around 4.5 quarts. Paid the guy 20 bucks for his help. Don't notice much difference yet but hopefully i'll have smoother shifting!
