Performance Engine additives

I don't seem to be getting the power that I should get from a Maxima. I expect the acceleration to be much better than 4 cylinder cars. I use 89.5 Octane. Would adding an additive like Slick 50 make any difference. Any other thoughts?

Check the fuel filter & plugs, always use 91+ octane gas, stay away from additives except for Techron or Redline Fuel System Cleaner. An engine flush might be called for also...

If you want something good that works, Get this product, http://store.yahoo.com/rodi/luc10020.html you might say to your self this is cheap it must not work very good, but you are wrong. This is the only Fuel system additve I found that works very good. I Tried everything else in my old car and my parents car, nothing worked as good as this one, i trust Lucas products, thats why i use it in my maxima.

Yea- use 91 octane for sure

redline fuel cleaner - 1 bottle in tank to clean it up

and, I believe in THIS additive as long as peeps are making sales pitches

www.x1r.com

*edit* use additive not so much to increase power but for long engine life. 91 octane might help with the power esp if you are in hot weather.

Take your car to autozone, have them run a free OBD-II scan of your computer for codes (should take about five minutes and it's free.) If your car feels slugish I'll bet you have a bad knock sensor.

Other than that start putting premium gas in, clean your air filter if needed, and change your fuel filter if it has been more than 60,000 miles.

If you must use an additive use BG to clean your fuel system, and Auto R-x to clean your engine.

Well, I used Seafoam in my gas and it helped a lot. It made the car run smoother and it was more responsive. Do a search on Seafoam, I am now a believer in this stuff. Believe me I have used Redline, Amsoil, Lucas, STP, Techron, and just about everything else except the BG 44k or whatever and this stuff out performed them hands down. I don't believe in using oil additives. I would use a good synthetic oil like Mobil 1 or Amsoil and do that. I do however use an oil flush and believe this helps when doing the oil change.

I am in Texas, and have never heard of Seafoam until I came to the org. What store in Dallas carries it?

Checker carries it also. Do these and your problems are history: Plugs, Knock check/replace, O2's, ALWAYS PREMIUM.

$3-4. Not bad. Get the liquid, not spray.

Don't use any of the oil additives. The FTC has sued them all and won against every last one of them.
