AC Recharge

How hard is it to recharge the AC system on a 2k max? I'm probably gonna do this today and want to try one of those do it yourself kits. Do they work well, anything I should know about?

the ac system should be 100% sealed. you shouldn't have to recharge it unless you have a leak. in that case find the leak before you add more R134a.

Eventually some refrigerant leaks out. If it's every yrear or two, then there is a significant leak. Also keep in mind that some refrigeration oil usually leaks out with the refrigerant. If you keep topping off a leaky system and don't add oil, it's going to wreck the compressor. If you add too much oil, the system efficiency goes south.

If you take your car to a mechanic, they can use a refrigerant sniffer to find even tiny leaks and recommend what to do.
