very easy to do a drain and refill. just remove the bolt and let it drain for a while. refill with whatever syn atf you want, i prefer mobil 1 atf. it is available in alot of stores and is reasonably priced. as far as making a difference, i noticed no difference in shifting but it was easier to move the shifter from gear to gear. the main reason i did it was for the lower operating temperatures.

I just got it done couple days ago. I think u got to use a machine that can replace 100% of the fluid. It cost me like $225 at Pepboys. I feel no difference at all. Even from shifting gear to gear. Just hope my tranny will last longer......

Mobil 1 here too. Good stuff. But Amsoil Universal seems to be a better match, since it seems Nissanmatic D4 is a Highly Friction Modified Transmission Fluid. A Dexron III fluid like Mobil 1 is also compatible, based on the owners manual.
I may try adding Lubegard's HFM Supplement to Mobil 1 in my next drain 'n' fill to see if it makes a difference.

I use the Mobil1 ATF and also added about 6 oz of the Lubeguard HFM. Shifting is real smooth.

ATFs are a complex combination of additives to meet certain specs. I doubt any HFM would make a difference, becoz if it did all ATFs would carry that while getting bottled -- my suggestion would be to change the ATF and not add any of these OTC additives, I doubt they have done any analysis if this is added to any ATF and what has changed in the original spec... My suggestion is to just flush the ATF with some high quality OTC DexronIII ATF like Pennzoil, Valvoline, Chevron and if you like to spend bucks go for those high end Mobil1/Amsoil syn ATFs.

The only way to ensure a complete fluid change is by taking to a shop and having them flush the system. It's only like $75 if you have your own fluid. I use Amsoil ATF.

It's underneath the car, in the middle of the transmission pan...the bolt is recessed a little. You can't miss it...

get some $20-25 ramps from advance or pep boys. block the back wheels and you are fine. only max that has been unable to get up mine had teins. all other lowered cars had no issues.
