What Brand of Gas do you use?

I'm weird about my gas. I ran Amaco for awhile, but it seems the quility, least in my area has went down hill. I've been using Shell for a little over a month and it feels like I've got a 3rd more power then I did when I ran Amaco. It might sound strange, but its truth! What gas do you use?

Chevron Premium 91 with Techron.....I can't get 93 octane here in SO CAL

the only other gases that I would touch are....Mobil/Exxon or Texacco....since Taxaco and Chevron are the same company

Chevron 89 or 92 octane. We don't get Amoco in British Columbia, but I have filled up across the line recently with Amoco 92 and found nothing wrong with it. A recent fill up across the line with Chevron 89 resulted in crappy performance. Canadian gasoline has more additives than US gas and we can get away with a lower octane as a result.

Mobil, but sometimes I will put a tank of Shell or Chevron just for the heck of it.
93 flavor.

Mobil, Shell, or BP...

Premium only...

I know all gas is processed through a few oil refineries in the US, but I still only trust brand name gas.

I have only used Chevron 93 since I picked the car up. I don't know what the dealer used when they filled the tank.

93 of whatever's cheapest. I will pay $.01 for a gas like chevron (cause of its techron) over a no-name, but that's it.

Interestingly the one mobil station I'm aware of has awesome prices.

If I didn't have, in the mail, a card that gives 5% cash back on all gas purchases, I would get a shell gas card, because it offers 5% back on Shell. This will make that quality gas the cheapest you can buy.

BP or Shell, blending octanes

I use BP or Shell, whichever is convenient when I need to add fuel. As for the octane range, I alternate refills between 89 and 93, with the idea that the mixing of the two will result in an octane rating of approximately 91. I don't know if this reasoning is sound or not, and if someone has some insight regarding my logic it would be great to read some comments.

Why BP?

I use a lot of BP too, in fact I use mostly BP. In use mostly BP for three reasons:
1. The company for which I work does automatic billing to BP for my work (I use a company "fleet" gas card).
2. BP stations are the most convenient in my area.
3. The people who run a particular BP near my residence are really friendly and I want to give them my business.

Do you have a car-related reason for using BP all the time?

I use the cheapest name brand 93 I can find. Since I can, I get SAM's Club which I believe is Exxon.

For whatever reason, my car only likes BP (Amoco) or Sunoco. All other brands of 93 result in knocks and pings.

Chevron, because they are the first US brand to meet BMW's, Honda's and Toyota's new Top Tier gasoline specification. If its good enough for BMW, its plenty good enough for me.

I only get gas that doesn't buy from the Middle East ie. Sunoco, Hess, Citgo, but being gas is SO expensive now, I'll get any no-name 93 or higher, but still won't go to BP/Exxon, Mobil/Shell, Texaco, etc. I'm still guilty of my Mobil1 oil, but that's only once every 8-10k miles or so. So that's ok.

Amoco & Chevron used to be industry leaders w/ detergent additives (MTBE) several years back, presently all the companies share the technology so they're pretty much the same. I'm looking for that discounted Iraqi gas... does anyone know where it is???

Petro sells 94 octane in BC? We don't get any of that stuff in Ontario

We get all kinds of 94 octane in British Columbia, apart from Petro Canada - Chevron, Shell, Husky, not sure about Esso but believe so. Husky is also marketing a 90 octane, 10% ethanol blend gas.

This is incorrect. MTBE is not the detergent additive in Chevron gasoline. A Polyether Amine compound is used.

Only Top Tier gas for me also. In my case it's Shell 93, because of convenience.
