what difference are you looking for? i flush mine once a year typically at the beginning of winter. it is just a measure for preventative maintenance. i used oem coolant, distilled water and a bottle of water wetter. i try to use a 30% coolant to 70% water. i was only able to get access to one of the plugs on the block last time along with flushing the radiator and cleaning out the resovoir.

I was just wondering what were the advantages of changeing it basically. Will it make my engine run cooler? etc etc

Antifreeze breaks down after 2 years. If you want your radiator to corrode and rust and leak in due course don't bother flushing it. Take it to a radiator shop and ask them to do a pH test on the radiator coolant. The strip of paper will tell you whether or not it needs to be done. If you are asking about it, chances are its long overdue.

nope wont make your engine run cooler, actually because it will probally ahve more ethelyne glycol it will probally make your engine run hotter, but your thermostat will regulate that and it will be an unnoticible diference. I use Prestone currently but might give Zerex G-05 a chance. I Change it every 2 years in my I30 but my allante gets it every year

Yes, that is just one advantage. The properties of coolant break down over time. The coolant protects the whole system against, heat, freezing and break down of parts due to rust. As it breaks down, so does the system allowing the coolant to carry more and more sediment into your engine passages.

Flushing the cooling system once in 2 years is good practice -- I sometimes hate doing it becoz of the risk of trapping air in the cooling system. It is quite a pain to relieve the system of air pockets (no air relief valve to the best of my knowledge!!!!).

I just flushed with Peak Global (no silicates/phosphates) with proprietry corrosion inhibitors, don't know what that is but my max is significantly cooler.

The Peak Global is a OAT (organic acid technology) way too good compared to the Dexcool formula in Prestone....

I just did mine (32,000 miles) IIRC the manual says every 30,000. Flushed with distilled water and refilled with the red OEM Toyota antifreeze. The inside of the radiator looked clean and new. Good idea to flush about every 2 years - I've seen some pretty clogged looking radiators on cars that haven't had regular flushes.

Water wetter should allow your engine to run cooler but unless your car overheats again your thermostat will just regulate this and the car will run the same temp. Basically its not the best way to spend your money, although i can think of worse. Also DO NOT mix water wetter with DEX-Cool or equivelent because it can cause a brownish sludge.

i have flushed mines w/ distilled water and i noticed my radiator looking clean inside, and the coolant pretty GREEN, greener than prestone imo. (but could just be in the mind)

I then used honda oem blue, no probs. i think the air thing will rid itself, don't worry. i think that the older systems are the ones you should worry, imho if the manual points out a AIR BLEED BOLT, then chances are, u must bleed the air as its there for a purpose. w/ my 4th gen i just race the engine and i can see the air coming out as more coolant is sucked in via the funnel.

also don't forget to add maybe a bit more to the resoivor after each complete flush and drain. i didn't, and the next day it sucked all that was already there.
so monitor it for a few drives after the flush/drain and you'll be okay.

i did it on my old car and the coolant wasn't even near any color, and it took out a lot of crap w/ it..
