alright tomm im gonna totally flush my transmission fluid following these directions:

However, I have some questions since this is my first time. Do I need to buy a new tranny pan gasket? Couldn't I use the old one and just clean everything. Also It says to flush 2 quarts at a time and put the gear in neutral and stuff. Wouldn't that hurt ur engine?

Also does autozone, advance auto parts and pepboys sell 12 quarts of transmission fluid. All I could find online was 1 or 2 quarts of transmission fluid.

It's always awkward the 1st time, but this is an easy job once you get the hang of it. Almost as easy as changing the oil. Almost.
If you pull the pan, the safest thing is to replace the gasket with a new one. If the old one is damaged in the slightest way, you run the risks of leaks after the job is done. Sometimes the gaskets stick to the pan or housing when you remove it increasing the risk of a tear to the gasket. If you are going to all this trouble, play it safe and use a new replacement gasket. You flush 2 quarts at a time to prevent running the tranny empty of fluid as you do the change. Remember, you are only taking out 2 quarts at a time from a system that holds @ 10 qts. to begin with. Refilling with 2 fresh quarts of fluid after taking out 2 quarts of old allows the tranny to remain filled with enough fluid to prevent damage and also have enough new fluid in it to "push" to old fluid thru the converter and out the return line as you go. It is much easier to do than it may sound. I simply used clean milk jugs and compared the fresh fluid level in one jug with the level of old fluid in the other jug so that I could replace the old fluid with darn near the exact amount I took out. I eye-balled the 2 quart level, refilled the same amount, drained another 2 qts, refilled, drained, refilled, etc until I ended up using a grand total of 11 quarts (including the original drain of the pan) when I did this job.

ok I think i got the picture now. Now next problem deciding which atf to get. I don't want to buy something extremely expensive but I want something to last and take care of my max. I found this on advance auto parts. What do you'll think?

I'm pretty sure the '01 Max and the 4th gen have the same VQ30DE engine. If so the tranny will be identical. As far as Maxlife AFT goes, I'd just make sure it meets the specs in your owners manual. Nissan says to use Nissan Matic D for my '01, "or a Dexron III/Mercon equivalent." Its the "or a Dexron..." wording that is key. If that is the same as your owners manual, you ought to be able to use the fluid you found. Valvoline's web site currently lists specs for the "VV324" Maxlife AFT. Your link shows "VV322" Maxlife. The Valvoline web site may just be more uptodate than PartsAmerica. Anyway, the VV324 technical data sheet specifically states that it is suitable for use in a Nissan Matic D application, which is unusual to see. Click on the "product info" link in the following page to read about it.

Only need a new gasket if drop pan.
12Qt is enough for a flush.
Follow the instruction in the sticky.
You do a drain and fill first. Then remove the return hose and start the engine. After draining 2 Qt. stop the engine and add 2 Qt to the fill tube. Repeat.

I Recently had my transmission seal replaced. I had a leak. My transmission is now very sluggish when driving 10-25mph. It almost feels like the parking brake is on. Do you think my transmission filter needs replacing? I had no problems with the transmission before the leak. Have you ever changed a transmission filter?
