I know that Chevron's techron works for me. I put it in my tank about 500 miles before each oil change so that it has been burned up and done it work before changing the oil. I do this because there are reports that it has a tendency to increase the viscosity of the motor oil. Not certain I believe this, but why take a chance. Following this practice also provides me with a benchmark for cleaning the injectors on a consistent basis.

The stealership wants to clean my injectors. Should I let them do this or will the Chevron Techron or other products do the same thing?

A dealer clean is more extensive. I hope you are getting this under warranty. If you are paying for this service, I then suggest you try Techron before paying the much higher cost of taking the injectors out for more extensive cleaning.

Thanks guys will try to look for it @ lockal auto store. But i was thinking about connecting container with cleaner/fuel (50/50) directly to fuel line (in engine bay) and cleaning it that way.

wow, that's really concentrated. Would you be plugging in before or after the gas filter? I can't imagine a need for running that concentrated. You could run your car until it dies, then drop a bottle of it into your tank, then run your engine until it dies again, then fill up on gas. and you still would have been more dilute than running 50/50

I was thinkimg to do it after fuel filter it's in gas tank unlike in 4th gen. To stay away from all that dirt i couldn't even imagine i have in my fuel lines and i always keep my needle not less than 1/4. Is that S8it so strong? K will just try to pour it in gas tank. BTW Is techron better for injectors than seafoam? Having issues with MPG. last time i got like 120miles/half tank.

I just recently ran a bottle of Chevron Techron through my tank. You can only buy FP through www.lubecontrol.com. I understand that Gumout Regane is also a decent product.

You should be able to get more than 15K out of an air filter. My maintenance schedule calls for 30K replacement, but mine was toast at 22,500 and 45,000, then about 7,500 miles into my 3rd filter I switched over to a K&N air filter.

Alot of people slam the kind you pour down the tank. I have been using it forever on all my vehicles. Every oil change it is mandatory to me. I dont know if it is a coincidence, but I have never had injector failure. The 92-94 SEs are prone to it also. I am at 297k and been using it since I bought the car years and years ago, no problems, no replacements.

I know that it's time to replace it because when i had K&n cone filter different was like 5-7 miles more w/k&n on 1/4 of the tank.

BG44K is supposed to be an excellent fuel system cleaner but it's on the pricey side.

Techron has 10% amine cleaner according to the MSDS. Regane has 30 - 40%. Regane looks like a better deal.

I just poured in a bottle of Chevron w/ Techron Fuel System cleaner in my Max, so far, I can feel a little bit more power, I'll post if there are any gas mileage differences later.

I don't believe its spoken of very highly on BITOG. Stick with Chevron Techron, LubeControl FP60, BG44K or Gumout Regane.

I've never heard of it. I don't go to the stealership any more, but they put a two-part fuel system cleaner in twice, a BG product called BG02.

Just calculated my mileage and with the Chevron w/ Techron cleaner, I got about 1/2 mile more. 21.5 mpg, before it was at 21, oh yeah, dunno if I'm crazy, but I think the cleaner made my car sound louder.

A 0.5 mpg increase in mpg is not statistically relevant. Report back after about 5 or 6 tanks of gas.

Lucas and Chevron Techron work great. Just bought a bottle of Techron today at Autozone with a 3.00 mail in rebate, woohoo.

Speaking of Chevron rebates. I am still waiting for the ones I sent in about three months ago. I may have to file a complaint with Lisa Madigan.

Here's another question: I always use Chevron 92 octane with Techron. Is it still worthwhile to add in Chevron fuel injector cleaner?

Probably not worth it, but it won't hurt.

Most major oil companies (like Chevron) put a larger dose of fuel injector cleaner in their premium gasoline than in the other grades, so you are probably OK.

I just used Chevron Techron before my last oil change for the first time. I ran Chevron 92 all last winter, but am now using Husky 90 octane at 87 octane prices and can't say I notice any difference in performance or fuel economy.

I may use Chevron Techron before every 2nd oil change going forward. Too much in the way of fuel additives is overkill, IMHO.

When I bought my tires at National Tire, I noticed they have a corner of the building that markets various products and they in fact do vehicle maintenance there now. They stock BG44K which is about $28, IIRC, and I might give that a whirl down the road. I haven't seen BG44K anywhere else locally and know its spoken of quite highly on BITOG. Perhaps this is a product that could be used say every 2 years.

Since I'm SC'ed I can't go lower than 92 octane or else it'll go kablooey.

We wouldn't what you to go kablooey, lol! Stick with the Chevron 92. I'm not sure what 94 octane would do for you.

If you want to spend the money, BG44K is about the best fuel cleaner available. Your probably looking at the $17-20 range for a bottle.

If this info is still correct, BG44K is a waste of money.

OTOH, this is the "rebuttal" from a BG rep. Back in the day of PEA in the MSDS, it worked wonders for me. Have not tried it since.

Isn't the Husky 90 ethanol-doped??
