German Castrol Batch Numbers
I really want to try this stuff...is realize my chances of finding the Green stuff are slim to nill, so which batch codes of the GOLD stuff are good to use??...If its even worth using (input)???
Also where do you find these codes and how do you read them (ie. last 4 numbers)
And if by chance I find the green stuff, what are the codes for that??
Thanks

Almost all of what you'll find here ( http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/...;f=51;t=000934) is dead on.
The batch numbers contain what are almost certainly Julian dates. All of them start with the letter "M". Julian dates simply count the days of the year. For example a hypothetical batch numbered M06001... would have been made on the 1st day of 2006, obviously, Jan 1. I just grabbed a bottle labeled M04280... It would have been made on Wednesday October 6, 2004; the 280th day of the year (if you're really compulsive, remember, it was a leap year...), and so forth.
All the "Made in Germany" stock from 2003 and 2004 was the greenish stuff of legend (M03... and M04...). Some very late 2002 0w-30 and some very early 2005 is also green (M05010...IIRC).
All these codes are stamped on the bottoms of the Castrol bottles.
Don't give up hope, there's still some out there. The AZ store in Pensacola at which I shop still has some. But yes, finding it now is iffy. Don't worry, the later gold formula seems to be doing well too.

I think i'm gonna give the new gold stuff a try since that seems to be the only one around. I can't find the green stuff. I'm gonna send the oil i'm using now which is mobil 1 to blackstone to get a UOA done and compare it to the gold german castrol and see what happens.
