Mixing syn and dyno
Mixing syn and dyno
I've wanted to switch to synthetic for a while but don't have the ***** to do it because some people at BITOG were getting leaks after switching. I wanted to mix about 4 quarts 5w/30 and 10w/30 Castrol GTX and a half quart of a high ester synthetic(like GC). I wanted to do this mainly for the winter. You guys see any problem with this?
Don't mix, its a waste, you lose any benefit you would have had running the synthetic to begin with. If you really want to run synthetics, running a dose of Auto-RX first, then switch. Otherwise save your money.
And if you have more than 100K on the engine, do two Auto-RX applications.
I switched over to synthetic oil in February, following one Auto-RX application and have no leaks, albeit I only have 64K mostly highway miles on the clock.

If you trust it, do it, but then if that is true whyd you ask?
