My dumb dealer doesn't carry Nissan brake fluid, the parts guy goes, all we have is the bulk stuff????? "But we can put it in a small container for ya, and charge ya extra for it" WTF??? I left that place in a hurry. Anyhow, I used ATE superblue, I like the color, and you know when all the old stuff is outta the system.

The car came with Dot 3, but you can use Dot 4. It's completely compatible, and has a higher boiling point.

Just don't use Dot 5. It has an even higher boiling point, but it can ruin your brake system.

Does anyone know much about Valvoline SynTec synthetic brake fluid?

I read about it some months ago on BITOG. I guess I could do a search and find out what it's all about.

By all accounts, Synpower DOT 4 is a "best bang for the buck" fluid. That's what I'll be using when it's time to flush out the ATE Super Blu, but I'm nowhere near that.

That's what I am using right now. When I first got my Max, I flushed the brake system with Ford Heavyduty brake fluid and it helps the brake feels. Last year, I flushed it with SyncTec.
