I have a goodyear cordless 1/2"impact not bad for $80
My friends at work have the $400+ snapon & say my gun is as god as theirs.
Fyi I only bought it for track & road service, but I tried it on a hummer(military spec) for the heck of it and it worked

got mine off the bay for 40 something shipped. i think its called pit bull? not a bad set up since they give you 4 impact sockets in the case. so far i've only done lug nuts with it and it works great. the battery needs a couple of hours to fully charge. it will get its real test in the spring when i do both of my axles.

http://www.toolbarn.com/category/cordlessimpact/ is where I get my tools primarily, they have a nice comparison feature as well...of course they only carry quality brands so expect to pay from $150-300 for a good cordless impact...

Snap-On CT3850 WFT!!! I've had mine for about 4-5 years and have done everything from taking off axle nuts to snapping studs from cross-threaded lug nuts. Used it on a professional level too and still have the two original batteries I purchased with it. The fastest charge time by far. If the charge is gone you can throw a battery on the quick charger for about 5 mins and take off a set of wheels. They still have more than enough of a charge to do about 3 suspension installs on each battery and that includes taking off and installing the wheels.

A quick tip for those that want to purchase one from a vendor's truck bring cash. When you have cash you can get a hell of a deal on most of the merchandise on the truck. I got my CT3850 with the case, work light, extra battery and charger for $400 cash new. The impact itself with the case, 1 battery, and charger retails for more than that I believe.

The Snap on 3850 model sells for ~$200 on ebay. Not bad for a good powered model with a lifetime warranty.

I have a Canadian tire "maximum" one. It was about 120$ canadian, 14.4V rated at about 100FT.LBS. On a full charge it can take off lug nuts, but as it goes down it cant, Its good for 8-14mm bolts but other then that i just stick to my IR 1/2 impact.

One of the techs at my work has the Snap on 3850 and that thing is insane. When i first started i picked up a cheap air impact, and that cordless impact had more ***** then my air powered did LOL.

I looked around ebay for a battery operated one, not because I don't have an air operated impact, but only because I see that the battery impact from Snap On is only ~$200. I did see a 18v DeWalt impact on ebay for $118 buy it now without the battery and was wondering if anyone knew a thing or two about it.

What model do you have?
I don't mean to make you regret your purchase, but I saw many units on ebay for ~$140 shipped.

EDIT: They were new items. Not used.

It's the DW059
I know that it's much cheaper on ebay, but I plan on returning it once I'm done replacing my cv boots.

One more thing to consider...

for the weekend user, or casual user.

Lithium batteries can hold a good charge in between long uses. It also wont crap the battery so fast.

Might want to consider it when you only use it once every other month or something.

So this is a good impact for suspension and lugs work? I'm planning on getting this so I can interchange the battery with my other 18v drill. Can I adjust the torque on this one also?

I don't think that torque can be adjusted on any of these.

Snap-On > any other wanna-be poser cordless impact no matter what the tq rating is.

How you liking that 4850? It must be like an IR Titanium since the 3850 is a beast in its own.

ok guys, so i have the Ingersoll Rand IQV 1/2in impact with the 19.2 LITHUM BATTERY.

and this is hands down the bad *** of all. first of all, every bolt ive put it on, came off with no problem, (crank bolts, axle nuts, over 100 lugs, u name it!!!) and it IS the worlds stronglst cordless, witht the LION battery!!! i have used it for 4 hours, and it still was going stong, but not axle nut stong!

i will get pics when i get home!!!

im def no OG mamber but by far i got the cordless tools OWNED, you will see. i also have other IQV, yes i spend over 1,000 on them.

people say why spend that , when u could get a air comprssor, and stonger tools for less, BECAUSE , when you go to the junk yard are you taking ur ac comp? when you go on a long trip do u bring ur ac comp with u?

sorry, i got a lil trigger happy on the posting

I don't even have the gun yet, but from my research and comparison tests...this gun is worth every penny, that's if you need it to do more than taking lug nuts off.

Finally got the CT4850HO from a Snap-On truck...retail is $519.99 and he knocked it down to $450 cash +$19 tax (reason being that I can have a receipt and also have a warranty) so $469 for a brand new gun w/2 batteries, charger and a case ftw.

Battery charged extremely fast...<30 minutes

This week it will get put up to the test, as I have a few things to do with the car.

You get what you pay for, I once bought a cheap socket, It rounded the corner of the bolt, it was the first time I used it( 3/8 drive) 10mm, then I looked for my Craftman Socket, I removed it with it

I just picked up the Ryobi P231 kit. 18volt impact ($70 alone) , 2 batteries. charger, bag, all for $100 at Home Depot. Its got a 1/4 coupler which I didnt like at first, but its great to stick regular bits into. Its 100 ft/lbs which is fine, I dont need anything crazy. I used the **** out if it this past couple of weeks tearing into my B13. It makes quick work even if it wont loosen every bolt.

All this money just for a little extra convenience. I'd rather use a breaker bar and pocket the difference.

i would stay away from the snap on cordless impacts. the batteries are crap. i have a dewalt 14v that takes off lugs 5 years after i bought it. both batteries still work great. the dealership i work at we have 8 guys that have the dewalt and 3 have the ir guns. after my snap batteries died in 3 years no one at work will by another.
