Removing resonator?

I drive a 2002 Infiniti I35 Sport, I want my car to sound louder, and clean. I do not want it to sound like over kill. But I was wondering if removing the resonator and keeping the stock exhaust would be a good way to do this. I would prefferably like to not buy a new exhaust if the other removal method will suffice. Thanks

I see it as-

Resonator - remove rasp
Muffler - quite the sound

I hate rasp. Get a different exhaust system

+1 on getting a real exhaust. i took out the stock resonator once and it didnt sound that great... i wound up removing the muffler and put the resonator back, had pipe welded to extendend it out to a tip where the stock one was. It worked, i guess, for the $30 spent . But everyone has different tastes so the sound may or may not be for you, but removing one or both of those items will definitely give you more volume for cheap if thats what you're looking for.
