12psi from a 2.62" on my V1 :)

I had time to put the 2.62" pulley on this weekend. I took it out for a test spin and peaked at ~12psi, I was hoping for more but 12psi is what I figured it would be. I get ~1psi at 2000rpms. It feels much stronger through the whole power band, above 5500rpms is insane. I was cruising on the hwy at ~45mph and put it in second to do a test pull, nailed it and the tires ripped loose real easy! EGT's came in at 720c peak so I think I need to go down to the 3:1 FMU disc with the 370cc injectors.

I was fearfull of the 2.62" pulley because it does over spin the blower relative to Vortechs specifications. I did call Vortechs tech line and ask about it and they said it "should be ok" because their is some headroom in their specs. I also asked ASP, whom I got the 2.62" pulley from, about it and they said as long as I dont over spin it for extended periods of time it should be ok. So I can not do any long 5th gear runs, darn. It should be just fine for 1/4 mile sprints.

As an install note on a V1 bracket I used a 385mm belt. I had to cut the center blower mounting post on the bracket in half so the belt would clear. I use a hack saw with a fresh blade and some WD40 as lube and it cut through in no time.

Now as soon as I get my 3" exhaust system I can go and dyno tune it and get some actual HP and TQ numbers. I'm thinking 360whp and 300wtq SAE on boost alone

Update on the boost level

Well last night when I was test driving I kept blowing a hose coupler off at the blower. I tightend it with a little screw driver while I was testing and it seemed ok. Last night when I got home I put a socket on the clamp and tightend it fully.

So this morning on my way into work I hammered it and got
13 PSI
My EGT's hit 740c so its really close to being tuned well also.

Mardi,

Just wondering why you didn't sell your SC and get Nigel's turbo?? He's putting out 351fwhp and 349fwtq @9psi. It seems much more efficient then the superchargers and gives alot more torque. I wonder why all you boosted gearheads aren't jumping all over his turbo

That's true...

But just imagine if you had his turbo @13psi with slicks...that would be like 460/440 HP/TQ You would be running 11's maybe even 10's

Why doesn't he just screw the VQ and drop in a jet turbine engine?

Yeah you've tapped out the limits of the V1 S Trim. If you want any more you'll need to go to an X trim. My neighbor ahs a V1 S trim on his mustang and gets about 12 psi with cool weather. He has been told that removing the air filter will show another 20hp on the dyno. You may want to try that on your next trip and see what it could do for you.
