I saw that car at the Nopi Nationals. The thing is ghetto as hell. Those are 20"s, but everything on the car is badly done. His headlight eyelids are vinyl and they're cracking and peeling, his carbon dash kit doesn't fit right, his wheels don't look like they fit that well, and the list goes on. Last year he was bragging about how he was sponsored by Stillen, but nothing ever came of that.

here we go again...........

to each his own,his car,his money, his style simple, your car, your money(or mom and dads money,or sponsors money)we need to stick together as Max owners, the chrome grill looks good to me,and the euro side markers, what is "ghetto" any way? besides a personal opinion about this dudes car,but then again we all are entitled to our opinions right but it seems odd on this board everyone is highly critical of everyones Maximas and we are here together on a Maxima forum board,we need to come together and stop hating on our cars,we all have different styles and choices and amounts of money to spend on our cars, homes etc.... in life and we all share ONE style the MAXIMA! What looks good to me may not look good to you so on and so forth, and sure we all will have opinons, likes and dislikes about his rims, tires, paint job, stereo, when we make our choices about our next mod-money,time,sponsors,and availability when we get something. We know on this board we all need advice or help about something that is why we post but we don't expect to get shot down by the guys who have the "BEST" looking, fastest, more HP,styling Maximas on the board,in magazines etc, websites and so on...And no I am not trying to **** anybody off I'm just stating what I have observed while being on this board and this board has and will continue to be one of the best sources of Maxima information out there because it comes from each owner about the there cars. PEACE!

I didn't call his car ghetto because of his choice of mods, even though I do disagree with them. I called his car ghetto because it is so badly done. His headlight eyelids, they're vinyl, but he didn't buy clear covers to go over his headlights first. He just put vinyl over the headlight. Problem with that are the aiming bumps. He actually just stretched the vinyl over the aiming bumps, it looks like the vinyl is about to tear. Also, the vinyl is not cut to fit that well, and it's cracked and peeling. That's ghetto. For some reason, his wheels don't look like they're the right offset, and they're way too big for the car. His car looks jacked up because the actual diameter is too much bigger than stock. That's ghetto. His carbon fiber dash kit doesn't look like it fit right. And he had an extra piece right above the glove box, carbon fiber with a bluebird badge. That piece was just so out of place, and it didn't even look straight. That's ghetto. I don't call cars ghetto because of the style, when I call a car ghetto, it's when it's badly done. To me, the execution is more important than the mod. I've seen lots of cars much uglier than that car, but the mods were done cleanly. And I may think the car is ugly, but I respect it for the work the owner put into it. But why put a modification on your car if it's not done right?

Looks like you posted that

For a person who gets offended every time one of us has a negative comment about the appearence of someone else's Max, you look like a big hypocrite here. How do you explain this post? To each his own, right? Stop preaching if you don't even mean it.

LOL!! You know how your mom says "If you don't have anything good to say then say nothing at all"?? Well that yellow max really tests a person#;>)...

But for real though, it is a known fact that a high percentage of people on this list hate on Chrome rims and rims that are larger than 17"(depending on who you are), eyebrows etc.. Basically anything outside of what is considered the "norm" on this list.. You gotta know this..

i was always under the impression that

20's were the ****. it's like if you don't have 20's you don't have ****. and how could you not like chrome rims. they look so much better than anyother color rims out there.

but then again most people that live around here rather looks than speed. they're rather put some neons on before they put on some pullys.

and one other thing..

i heard that the bigger the rims the faster you go, or some **** like that. so if you have 17's now, if you put 20's you should go faster if what i heard was true.

so why do you guys hate 20's if it makes your car go faster?
i thought you guy put speed before looks? J/W

What do you mean that 20's make the car faster? You think that 20's eliminates the governor or rev limitor? I don't understand what you mean.

20s are way heavier and slow your car way down it is hard for the engine to turn those big heavy rims/tires.........

Re:Re: and one other thing..

i was watching tv and on one of those car channels they put a sc in a truck. and they did that test to see how much more hp you got. after the test was complete he started nameing thing that they could do to make the truck even faster, one of the thing he said was bigger rims. it had factory rims. so if what he said is true then if you have two cars with identical engines, one has 17's and the other has 20's the one with 20's should be faster.

ok try this on for size.

if 20's are heavier than 17's and its harder for the engine to turn them. you could say the same about 17's and 13's.
according to what you just posted two car with identical engines, one with 17's the other with 13's. judging from your post the car with 13's should be faster, after all the 13's are lighter so the engine should have no trouble turning them. then this would mean that so called expert on tv was wrong about the bigger rims thing

To each their own.

I'm pretty sure 90% of the people here think my rims are quite ugly...but ya know what...i really don't care. They are MY taste...if YOU like heavy chrome rims..so be it. We all need to learn to respect others viewpoints...nobody is putting blinders on you and forcing you to look at their cars. Some prefer looks over performance...Some prefer performance over looks....Some want a balance between the two.
Ok im done rambling.

Dude, 20"s will make a car slow as hell. They probably meant wider tires, not bigger rims. It's a known fact that bigger wheels are slower. Just ask anybody. And 20"s are not the ****. They are cool, but very few nice looking rims are made in 20" size. Just because every rap song says 20"s are the **** doesn't mean they are. I like big wheels, I'm getting 19"s next year, but most 20"s I've seen don't look right.

In the situation that you have a car that has a lot of TQ such as what you watched on TV then a wider rim would maybe help make it go faster. Only because there is more rubber on the ground and better traction off the line. As far as a maxima goes you need to have a lot more power for the engine to really compensate for a bigger rim. For most maxima's it would slow it down unless your pushing at least 300hp. The heighth of the rim only makes the car heavier which does slow it down. I mean how many cars do you see at the track racing on 20" slicks. That should answer your question.

another thing is that when you upsize your wheels even to say 17" the ride does get a little harsher, but the larger width and being able to get z rated tires for more road grip are worth the sacrifice of comfort. i would imagine with 20's you would feel every little bump on the road and the ride quality of the car would be terrible, plus buying tires for them would be expensive and a pain in the ***. on some cars i think chrome looks good, but on a sporty looking car i think they look out of place. i would rather just get silver. on that car pictured, the 20's do look pretty rediculous, and it does look like the body kit paint does not exactly match the car.

The paint actually doesn't match. The body kit paint is whiter and less glossy than the rest of the car. I guess it's just regular white as opposed to the pearl white Maxima. And I don't think that with 20"s, the ride would be too much worse. The sidewall is actually about the same as with the 17"s, but the overall diameter is bigger. That guy had 245/35/20's and I think I30cefiro has 255/35/20's. So the ride would probably be the same as with 18"s.

Okay, lets put it this way. Bigger diameter tires and wheels make a car faster on the top end, but slower off the line. If I put 235/60/17's on my wheels, and I could get it to hit redline in 5th, I would be going faster then with stock diameter. If I put 205/35/17's on my car, I couldn't go as fast top-end, but my car would accelerate quicker.

As far as 20's, I think they look good if you get the right wheel. These wheels, IMHO, don't really fit the Max. On the other hand, I30Cefiro's 20's look damn good on his car!

OMG!!!!!! THIS GUY IS FROM MACON!!!!!

His shop did my springs and struts. And Yes , It's getto. I've seen it up close. He claims 14.5 sec 1\4 miles. I don't see how. It's all show, no go. The ART on the winshield stands for Attaway Rim and Tire. This is the only other modded Max here in Macon. I call it getto because I've seen it up close. The pics don't do it justice. He's a good ole boy, and had a buddy who was taking classes for auto body do the body work. You can't get 14.5 1\4 miles with only intake and exhuast, with huge chrome 20"s.

14.9 without the 20"s?

Ok, maybe. 14.5? NO.
And like I said. I've seen this car up close. You don't put 20's on a car for performance. It's all show, no go. Which goes against what the guy kept telling me his car was set up for.

last time i checked a gettho car was a car that have rust along the side, make gun shot sounds, has one side mirror, one spear tire(in use), crack in the windshild, and it breaks down every two blocks.

I also think the car looks good from the picture. Maybe he does need a paint job, maybe he's not planning for a paint job at this time or that's his next step. 20 inch rims are not ghetto if you knew the kind of people living in the ghetto. A lot of people cant afford 20" Chrome Rims. BIG UP TO WHOEVER OWNS THAT MAXIMA.
