Please be carefull....

I read this story and realizes how much "private" information is given out here in a public forum. Now I know most of us are friends and trustworthy...but....well read the story and you'll get my point.

Story

Be careful. I dont ever want to read about something like this happening to one of us.

Moderators: I could not really figure out where to put this. Its a safety concern but...? You know? I see VINS and phone numbers and other items fly through here so thought it might be appropriate.

Yeah the famous stolen RX7 thread. It even happened in my general area. NW.

I would say yeah, you have to be carefull but you can't go around and not drive your car. Since your license plate is readily available to anyone who sees your car, not much you can do.

That is crazy, a very good post. Moderator please do not remove. Good leason to all. Good thing I park my car in the garage which I can access from my house, it has the stock alarm and a aftermarket, I also have a 357...Makes me feel a little safer, especially after reading this.

I never undstood this. So you can shoot him/her for stealing your car even if they are not a threat phyically? ie.. you shot him as he's pulling away? This ain't Texas and no maxima is worth some serious jail time.

hahaha It is more of a fear striking tool. Alarm goes off, pop open the door to the garage, aim it, he freezes, meanwhile someone in the house calls the cops. But first they would have to get through the garage door...

Well stealing a car from a garage would be pretty tough but I would assume the thief would already have the door open before attempting to steal the car. So I would think you have about maybe 30 sec between the time he opens a door and gets your car started. So let's say he's driving off, what good is the gun then?

A word of advice. NEVER point a gun if you are not going to use it that same instant, you don't know if your adversary also has a gun and may not hesitate to use it. This has happened to me in my own home.

Take care!

I try, I go to the shooting range once every couple of months. But you Mr.Jeff92se are starting to ask alot of questions, sort of like our man in the story. Are you planning anything strange? I better get the camera ready and fly out to your house and await.

I see a few obvious points in that story where the theft could have more than likely been avoided, or at least complicated...

and besides, that's an RX-7. But there are heavily-modded maximas here that thieves would love to get their hands on for one reason or another. Most people with modded rides have enough common sense to do things like not give out their VIN, be careful who they give out other sensitive info out to over the net, block out their license plate # on pics, etc. I don't even go as far as most since my car is almost always in one of two garages, and is stock.

I know you have on/off times with your car...but I love mine (I cant afford much more than the Max at this point..but hey a house, wife, wifes car pmnt, my car pmnt will do that to ya).

I also know the BS you have to go through to get it all taken care of. No thanks. I would rather be a bit preventative. I dont have that kind of time to be w/o my car.

Some of us do care because the amount the insurance company would give us would be crap compared to us selling it ourselves. example: My 88 Nissan Maxima

That is some sick shiet

Dayum.. It seems like some ppl including me are posting vin numbers, as well as knowing my lic plate number, where i am located . Its pretty scary to think that some one can do this. This goes back to the jerk of* who took ppls money from this org for a sc or something , i forget... On the internet its pretty serious business. And its really hard to trust and do business with someone you havent meet. And this is supposed to be a community of friends. Like in every family, there are those who steal with in just satisfy their fix. Really, its just plain crazy.

I contest that any future business, there should be somehting done to protect every org member. Like the way moderators on the other forum and here found evil people using ip logging. but even that isnt enough. I guess the best thing to do is limit your info on the internet, and use secure payment system...

i am just ranting... b/c this stuff really sucks.

I completely agree with Jeff92SE and IonicMax...Ionic, you made a good point about the gun...if you are pointing the gun at that guy that might set him off and he might pull out his pistol and waste you.

I am all for the right to bear arms...but many people don't know how to use them and they end up doing more harm then good. They should make you go through a strict training course so at least you will have some skills to back yourself up with.

I have training But if I have a gun pointed at him and he reaches for a gun and I see metal I am going to end his life. Then I have reason, since he pulled the gun out. Just like if a cop points a gun at you and tells you to get out of your car, you get out, then reach for a gun, you are dead. We should end this topic because it will go nowhere fast, I appreciate you worrying about me though

This story really makes you think. It's like a soap opera, except the guy was more stupid!

Goes to show that even though the net is big, it's still a small world!

Yep, he can do it in Texas. I live in Arkansas, and visited a, shall we say, an-NRA-lovin-ex-girlfriend in Texas recently. She took me out to a shooting range and we got a freebie from an instructor. The point came up that, in Texas, you can use deadly force to protect your property. Some dude tested it sometime back in San An' when he started pursuing (on foot) a couple of jerks who were ripping his truck off (for the 3rd time), winged one and killed the other. Jury said, "Have a nice day."

Yeah - but the JURY said that. Meaning he went on trial for it - I'd rather lose a truck then my liberty.

Deadly force is only justified to protect innocent people, not things.

I tend to agree. I was just suprised to find out that bit of info; I know of no other state that has that sort of statute. I certainly can't pull that kind of stunt where I live.

donald is a crazy man.....

but seriously you deadly force where its warranted. if you pull a gun out on a potential thief. the shoot first ask questions later thing will diffinitly put your @ss in jail. now on the other hand if the guy pulls a gun out on you. at that instant your life is in danger. but the uestion is shoot him in the head or shoot him to disable him from being able to use his weapon. either way you shoot someone regardless your going to the police station.

and i don't want to here any oh well have you been to any classes with guns saftey and blah blah blah. i ve been to several gun saftey and home security classes.

in the end my maxima is in my drive way. if my alarm goes of someone will find a "VERY BIG GUN" pointed at them. and i will be on the phone with the police at the same time. my max is my babe and if i can help it there will be no one driving it of in the middle of the night. i did most of the wok in mods on my car. that is my time and money personnally spent in.

awp i aim to hit

anything else i aim i aim high chest/head

but seriously if i run out of bullets in a round then i either ran into a lot of enemies or i got lucky as hell and didn't die.

either way *** you run around the map there will be other guns laying around from different casualties.
