But I cant order from them because whenever you order a part they want your vin number for the car you are ordering for. Unfortunately I dont have a 2000. So thats why I asked. Does anyones Nissan Dealership parts dept. ask for you alls VIN??

Yes, I had the same problems. Most Nissan dealerships will ask you for a VIN number and year of make for the particular part you are looking for. I tried bypassing this, but no avail! I tried several dealerships, and they would not let me order the parts unless I gave them a VIN for the particular year of the car. It must be "Nissan thing".

I've always had good customer service from Courtesy. I've e-mailed a few times asking if they have stuff in stock (not listed on the site) and questions about parts in terms of performance and they've always responded quick (same day or next day).

They ask for the VIN because they enter it into their computer. Sometimes they make changes in production in the same model year. Some people just are not creative when it comes to data entry. They should be able to find what you are looking for without all the fuss if it's a common part.

I never ordered from them but I was always curious how they got such a name on this forum. They offer only 15% if I'm not mistaken. I can think of 2 places off the top of my head that offer 25% and 30% off list. The 25% place offers free shipping for orders over $25.

I can just drive to the local Nissan dealership and get 15% off parts. We all know they can give 50% off list and still make a good profit. That's their biz, that's how parts iz.

I'll be the 3rd person to ask this: What are these places you're referring to?

They got to be known because they hosted Maxus a few times and a former (well sort of) member worked/works there so he is always promoting their website. I've heard bad things about them too, but never actually experienced it myself.

They're fake, I just made them up. Courtesy is the best, 2nd to none. here's one

the other is that dealer in New Orleans. I think they give 30% off.

Maintenance & Lubrication, Chassis, Filters, Oil Filter, Maxima $20.69

Thats doesn't sound like a good deal to me since Courtesy is selling for less then $5

Although, now that I look, alot of their other stuff looks reasonably priced... typo i guess

They are known because they have been there for maximas since pretty much the beginning.

I've ordered 5 times from Courtesy and have had no complaints at all. Friendly people, fast shipping, and plus a little discount

Why would a person go to the trouble of mail order for 15% off, when you can just go to the dealer up the street for the same 15% off? The sales tax and shipping would cancel each other out, that's what I don't get. 25% off and free shipping, that I can see. 30% off, even better. 15% off, just pick it up at the dealer yourself. $4.55 for an oil filter is good, 38% off, but what are we talking about, $0.94 less than 25% off? Rather get a flat 25% off everything, not 15% off everything but an extra 0.94 on oil filters.

Online they offer 15%, but if you call up and mention you are a maxima.org member the discount is then 25% off.

I've order LOTS of stuff from Courtesy Nissan and I've always been happy with their service. Once they accidentally forgot to apply the maxima.org discount, and they had no trouble refunding me the difference. Now they just have a note in their computers and I don't even have to mention the discount anymore.

I've tried ordering from a few other places with similar discounts, but either they take forever or their shipping is insane. I've decided for OEM stuff I'll stick with Courtesy Nissan.

Interesting. I've had the exact opposite experience with Courtesy and stopped using them about 3 years ago. From sending wrong plugs to wrong interior parts when you give them the part number, they messed up 3 orders of mine in a row and that was enough for me. I also found their shipping rather high and the overall competency lacking.

While I won't go back to them, it's good to hear others have had positive experiences.

And there are several dealers that offer 25% off all over the country. I would reveal where, but that's what using the search function is for.

Everyone has different experiences. I've had bad experiences with certain companies, whereas other people swear by them.

Well, I can't say about 3 years ago but in the past two years I've used them and have always been happy. As for shipping, they are decent: ex.
To ship two front dust boots, two rear dust boots, four energy suspension bushings, two strut bearings, four isolation bushings, and four spring isolators it cost $8.95 to PA.

These aren't big items, but shipping seems fair.

Everyone can only talk from their own experiences, I mean look at Carparts.com

True. I never had a problem with them, and I was in the distinct minority on that one.

I hope Cheston doesn't see this thread.

Well, I order from courtesy because the dealership here has no 3rd gen parts in stock and if they do, they will charge me an arm and a leg.

Don't forget to mention that you're a member of maxima.org, you get everything at 25% off MSRP prices.

Actually NO.
The website parts are only 15-20% off.

Lots of places give 25% off, but courtesy's online price's are 15-20% off. If you mention your a maxima.org member you get 25% off the retail price.

Ex.
Look at all the 4th Gen brake hardware, those prices are NOT 25% off. When I got all my brake hardware, they charged me less then their online listed prices.

Discounts are on OEM Nissan parts. They can't give discounts on parts from other vendors.

Yeah, I got hit with that too when I order the Energy Suspension parts. Sorry if I was misleading. The discount is for ONLY Nissan OEM parts. Their FSTB isn't a Nissan OEM part.

I can offer some advice. The courtesy FSTB is really good. I've had both courtesy and Stillen (which I still have) but the courtesy FSTB actually fit nicer. It had more clearence over the parts around the intake manifold. It's also a nicer construction then the really cheap FSTB's.
Some of the cheaper FSTB's have a thin flat metal bar, which I'm not sure how stiff they really are. Whereas the courtesy bar is round with grooves and feels really solid.

I don't understand the logic. Lot's of places give 25% off, but not Courtesy unless you're in with the in ctowd and a member. Then they'll give it to you too. That's not very courteous, it's rude!

???
Who knows, I don't make the rules. I'm guessing that they give members of certain "clubs" discounts because of the extra business they generate. I mean if courtesy didn't give the 25%, lots of people here would go to someone who did.

Other places give 25% right from the start, probably because their willing to make a little less profit. If courtesy gets away with only giving 15% to most people, then that's more money in their pocket. It's just like dealers on this forum, people compete for business all the time.

The thing I don't really understand are the local Nissan dealers who charge FULL price??

The follow-on replies - Courtesy has been absolutely great to me, and I live on the other side of the US!
FAX'd me pages of fiche to pin down what I wanted, taken back uneeded parts, always upfront, always cheaper than locals.

The other day "Bruce" said he could get what I wanted from Japan, but also then gave me the names of 2 pick-n-parts in the DFW area that could fix me up at mucho dirt cheaper prices.

Outstanding crew there.
