Which dyno meter to buy?
Which dyno meter to buy?
I will be testing a product to see if there are any gains, but I'm not sure which dyno meter to go with. I just won an auction for the Gtech Pro, but I also stumbled upon a couple of other options.

This is $200 and uses the PDA to store the information. It looks like it measures so much more and even gives out a dyno graph.

I'm not sure if I made the right buy. I think for accuracy and knowledge of the whole power curve, I should have gone with a dyno that would produce graphs. I guess, best would be an actual dyno at a speed shop. I just wonder how many runs they'll give me.

Well for now, I guess I'll just stick with the G tech. I'll test the product in question with the 0-60 time and 1/4 mile. I'll also be testing the mileage. I just wish I didn't have to shell out my own cash for this. It's times like these that you wish a friend of yours owned a dyno.
Firstly, let me tell you they will ALL be inaccurate. Unless you think my auto '96 with an HAI and some weight reduction can pull a 0-60MpH in 6.8 seconds. If you are just going to test the 0-60MpH and 1/4mile times, the G-Tech is the way to go. One of my friends has a more complicated system with graphing, and the graphs are all way off, as well as the horsepower much like my G-Tech. Unless you're buying an AP-22 (see www.cbracing.com) which I will agree is nicer and fits in a din (I think), just stick with the G-Tech for 1/2 the money.

thanks for the advice Vyrus. I'm going to do a series of 5 runs, search the results and eliminate outliers, and take the average. Then I'll install the ground wires and run for another 5 runs. Hopefully I'll see gains. Then I'll fill up the tank and see if I can beat 27.2 MPG. If these ground wires are as advertised (2-6 HP, 3-7 ft-lbs, and 1.5-3 MPG improvement), I think these will sell like hot cakes, especially for under $150.
