Difference between KYB GR2 and AGX

Sorry to clog up a thread, but the sheer number of KYB references on here makes it difficult to narrow it down.

If I'm looking to get a tight, good handling, close but not identical to stock, riding on 18" rims, which of the two would be best?

KYB AGX or KYB GR2.

I understand one is a single gas chamber vs. a 2 gas for the GR2, but what is the difference in ride / handling between the two?

Also, I'm not auto-crossing or racing, apart from some time at the track sometime in the future. I like to drive fast (within limits), and handle well, and will dropping the car as well (I like the look of the Sprint drop, but am also considering H&Rs due to their rep / popularity).

Thanks very much in advance.

Mike

H&R's and GR2's will give you an awsome ride. Much tighter then stock, but still very smooth.

Whereas AGX + H&R is too floaty for those of us who want a STIFF setup hehe

That's different from what I'm reading

What I'm reading says that GR2s are more like stock (i.e. floatier), whereas the AGX are more stiff. I was thinking about putting them with either H&Rs or Sprints, cuz I LOVE the look with the Sprints (and the price don't hurt either ).

Here's how it goes. Erica should back me up on this one

Stiff springs NEED tight struts/shocks and will produce the best handling!
Sprints, B&G, Eibachs ect. should only be mounted on AGX's

Softer springs may be coupled with either soft performance struts/shocks or stiff high performance struts/shocks for better handling. This ride will absorb bumps better but also give your car much better handling.
H&R's or stock SE springs mounted on Tokico, KYB GR2 or AGX's

Soft springs with soft strut/shocks = A stock Maxima.....

There are many more combo's out there. But thats the general way it goes.

are the gr2 direct replacements like the agx? or is there modding involved?? i was thinking about get agxs with my H&Rs but if the GR2 are jus as good then i'd get those and save some cash

NOmoding invlovedwith either. I have the GR2's with the Intrax springs (lower than H&R's but not as low as Sprints) and they are stiff and held outwell for the year that I 've had them. If getting Sprints I recommend getting the AGX's with them because the GR2's cannot support them, meaning they'll blow in about 5K miles.
