I find it funny how many people think there is something special done to cop cars. The truth is, they are no faster or quicker than their factory equals. Usually they are slower due to weight.

-The LT1 Caprice cop car was rated at 260hp (not 300-330hp like the Vette). The Caprice cop car is slower than the Impala SS because it only runs a 2.93 gear (3.08 in the SS)

-Camaro cop cars are fleet cars that go by the B4C designation (no Z28 badges). It's just a stock LS1/LT1 auto or 6 speed with a heavy duty oil, tranny, and steering cooler.

-Mustang 4.6/5.0 are just straight stock showroom cars. Ford does not modify these cars. Remember, they have emissions and mileage standards they have to meet.

-Crown Vics can either be ordered with the single or dual exhaust. The dual gives about 10hp according to Ford.

-Tahoes are just Vortec V8s like their showroom stock brothers.

Point is, no police department is gonna modifiy their cop cars. Why? Things like chips, SC, NOS, exhaust, etc cost big bucks and it's taxpayer money. Chips and SCs also require high grade gas and good tuning. DO you really think a police department is gonna waste that much money? Cops want reliabilty, good gas mileage, and comfy ride. They could give a hoot about having the slower car. Why? Cause they can outdrive your *** very easily.

The only modified cop cars you'll see are the ones that have been repo'd from drug dealers and such. I know of many departments that showoff their heavily modded Supras, Cobras, Z28s, Stangs, and such at local events and drag strips.

Whoa .. HOLD UP !!!
Don't try this.. you got to be kidding me ..
Ever heard of reckless drving.. careless driving..
if you accelerate too fast the cop can nail you for either one of these.. Please don't do that ..

remember YOU CAN'T WIN .. a cop can pull you over for no reason whatsoever.. trust me it's been done many times..

I don't know about the rest of y'all but cop cars here in Texas are not to be outrun. The cops here in Midland have Ford Police Interceptors (souped up Crown Vics) and Chevrolet Caprices with the LT1 Corvette engines in them. Same with the Sherrifs, DPS, Constables, etc. I know cops that have been in chases at 160 mph or more in their Fords and Chevys. My advice: Don't **** with cop cars in Texas. The DPS here also has souped up Camaros. They're mainly drug cops. My mom has a friend who is a deputy Sherriff in Midland County and he has the 2nd fastest car on the force. It's a Ford. That S.O.B. will mop the floor with ANY Maxima. You can always tell cop cars (even the undercover ones) by the fact that their Fords and Chevys have dual exhaust.

Actually, now that I wrote that, I will share my story about running from the cops. I've done it a couple times and never been caught, mostly in Houston where there are a lot of streets and lots of traffic. But one time when I was living here in Midland, two days before I moved to Houston for 8 months, I pulled up at a stop light and some people I knew from school pulled up in a Dodge Intrepid. Wanna talk about a slow a$$ car. They wanted to race so I decided to take them. I should have known better because the "drag" is always polluted with bacon. We took off and I kicked his ***. I got to 65 mph and I guess he might have gotten to 55 or 60 mph (I was two car lengths on him) in a 35 mph zone. A cop pulled out from a side street and went right for him so I thought I was in the clear. All of the sudden it hit me that bacon was probably all around so I killed the fogs lights, dropped 2nd gear, and floored it! You're all correct. Do lots of turns and ditch the car. I did this and parked the car in front of a random house. Me and my friend lit up a cigarette and took a thirty minute walk. We saw about three police cars driving the neighborhood during that walk.
