245/40/18 on an 18x8 w/ 35mm offset?

I just put a deposit at my local Belle Tire on 245/40/18 Toyo Proxes T1s and Enkei RPM2 18x8 rims. The rims have a 35mm offset. Am I going to see any problems with this setup? I did some searches and I've seen mixed opinions on 245's as well as mixed opinions on 8" wide rims with 35mm offset.

I have an 02. Is anyone running a 4th of 5th gen with this setup who can verify that it will or won't work?

Should be okay. Have you emailed anyone that's running this set-up? That would be the best way. I do that all the time.

But isn't it a little late to ask that kind of question?

I already e-mailed Edv2k. He has the same rims. Not so sure about his tires.

Whalentire says the rims fit fine (not sure how accurate they are) and most people here (but not all) say that 245 is no problem. I wouldn't have bought them if I was really concerned that they wouldn't fit, but I'm just double checking to make sure I'll be okay.

18x8 +35 is fine. Should look flush in front, and what a +42 looks like in front (for the rear)

I have 17X8 with a 32mm offset. It looks perfect; the rear is not as tucked and the front is just out to the fenders (glad I don't have 2" drop). Strangely my Brembo brakes clear by seriously 2mm.

Since it's your $$$, why don't you give the Tire Rack a call? It's never benn answered why they recommend 235's on 2k2's and 1995's. Because 2k2's have those awful 225/50-17 standard. Then it's hazy because that setup was optional on SE's from what, 2k to 2k1. So it's not really making sense why the 245-40 is not the recommended size, it would be equivalent to 225.50-17. When you spent 21k on a new car, I think you should have the correct setup and not settle for someone saying it's about right, or it'll fit. my .02 Good luck.

I can't get the rims or tires I want at TireRack. Plus I'm not sure that they know as much as they claim either. I also paid a heck of a lot less at the local shop for the tires and rims than I would have even from Whalentire. An aweful lot of people here run a 245, so I think I should be ok on the 245. I was a little more concerned on the 35mm offset on the 18x8.

35mm is fine for a 8" wide wheel.

Just to see if I got a good deal on this setup how much should this setup cost?

I'm getting the rims for $189 each and the tires for $199 each. $1650 out the door (w/ tax, mounting, balancing, etc).

sounds abotu right.. what kinda rims did you say you got again??? what kind of tires??? i paid 195 for my s03's 245/40 yr-18 through tire rack.. i wouldnt' recomend getting tires through tire rack.. unless you can get free mounting and balancing.. i paid 180 for each rim. (my rims are discontinued) they are OZ wheels. your pricing sounds about right tho... and if u want u can sell your stock wheels for some extra pocket money.

Enkei RPM2 18x8. Supposedly they're the same as the JDM Enkei MII (forged and 18.5 lbs). According to Enkei's US site they weight 17.5lbs. Wheelweights.net says they're 17.5lbs and cast. Whalentire says they're forged, but 18.5lbs. Other wheel weight sites say the MII(RPM2) are forged and 18.5lbs. I guess I won't ever find out how much they weight because they'll have rubber on 'em by the time I see 'em.

Will I be able to find out if they're cast or forged from looking at the rims?

I got Toyo Proxes T1-s rubber for them. Toyos are some of the lighter tires you can buy. For example Kuhmo 712's in 245/40/18 are 26.8lbs, whereas the Toyos are only 24lbs.

MII's from the Japanese site http://www.enkei.co.jp/pro-mat/borte...mg/b-m2_04.jpg

RPM2 from the US site http://www.enkei.com/images/6c_6.jpg

They look the same to me. Maybe I'll call Enkei USA up and see what they say for weight and if they're cast or forged.

Edit: From looking at the rims carefully I'm not sure they can be cast. Casting requires that the metal can flow from some point on the mold (injection point) to all the other points on the rim. The spokes seem kinda narrow to be cast. Even hot metal doesn't flow all that well. Then again, maybe I'm just out to lunch and talking out my butt.

Stereo dude, I have 18X8 SSR integrals with a +35 mm off set. The rims/tires fit perfectly and look perfect for a max. The wheels are seated just right in the fender walls and there is no rubbing what so ever.

Good to know. Are you running 245's?

I already have 17s. Since you seem to not understand the idea of keeping speedo error to a minimum I would respectfully ask that you keep your opinion to yourself.
