What exactly is done in the 60k service, and is it really necessary to do it? Im at 58k and got something in the mail, but Ive heard it isnt always necessary to do.

you are thinking about the 30K or 15K but the 60K is major. Spark plugs and belts are the two major parts to the 60K service. PCV valve, radiator flush, fuel filter and transmission fluid will complete the service.

Don't neglect your car.

I have 102,000 miles and the last time I tuned it up was at the 60,000 mile mark. Other than fluid/filter replacement the car is basically maintenance free.
