I think I found a new car!!{pic}>>Tell me what you think?
It is a 97 MAX GXE 5SPD with only 35,000 in mint codition and dealer mantained,I found it at my local Nissan Dealer {no more N.H. deals haha},it has a spoiler and 15 inch monroe alloy rims but no other options. They are asking $15,500 for it and I emediatly talked them down to $14,469 and he said that he could maybe take $200 of that when I buy it.So how much do you think I could get them down too,I was thinking $14,000 would be about right but do you think I should get it for less?Tell me what you think of it,Thanks
It's the black one,
It's the black one,
I don't know, it looks like a good car but I got my 97 GXE with 30k miles in '98 for 14k. Think you can do a lot better with the price. Check http://www.autotrader.com, there's loads of deals on that site.
I know this isn't anywhere near you and prices may differ, but here's a good example.

I'm actually thinking about buying this car and handing down the GXE... hands off! =)

I'm wondering the same thing emax, why you want another 4th gen. Maxima? Your Maxima looks pretty good already. I thought you going to wait, and get the '02 Maxima? That's my plan anyway.
Heres why,
If you look between the Steering wheel you will see 92,000 miles which is getting kind of high for my liking, and my max is still worth almost as much as a 97-98 Max GXE so I am going to get leather seats Bose and all the goodies from a junkyard or something and just drop them in my 97-98 GXE and I will also swap everything from my 95 into the 97/98 {suspension HID'S Exaust ect.}exept for the bodykit and if I get a 98 then the UPRD ECU.So basicaly for 3 grand more I will have a decked out 97/98 Max with a 3rd of the miles and increased safety features and I will also be able to put a 97 stillen kit on which I think is way better looking then the 95's.About waiting for a 2002 at this point I am not going to bother though I most likely will by a 2002 when it is a year or two old and some a bunch of $$money$$.
On another note thanks a lot guys for showing me the auto trader site,I found a killer deal which was the exact same as the one above but 34K miles and for $11,900 but it sold 2 hours ago but the guy is getting 15 more Max's right off of lease on Wednesday for a simalar price, also he said he was getting 98's for just a little more,so next Wednesday I will probably pic up a 98 GXE 5SPD for 12-13K with 35K miles!!!,Thanks again guys for the tip I appreciate it a lot.Peace

I got to agree with phil on this one hold out for a I30T->
With the things you are doing to your car it would be nice to have a (LSD). Thats something we maxima owners can only dream about.

Think twice if you do (was Re: Heres why,)
Just as a point of reference, I've had a 96SE lease, a 99SE lease and now I own an "abused" 96SE bought at 113K with everything but the cold weather package. While I'd consider it, I'd be _very_ reluctant to trade for a dealers Maxima.
I was ready to buy JeffK's car, and yoitsok's car, but too late to the party both times, but JeffK's was modded out the wazoo, and yoitsoks was waaaaaaay cheap. The other factor was that I like their ext/int colors better. Other than a situation like that, I'd recommend leaving it alone.
Consider:
You'd sell your car for $10K, buy one for let's say $13K. You'd then have to spend sales tax (at least in PA you would, 6% -> $780). Then add labor $$ to transplant all of your mods. Then the time/hassle/aggravation of the buy/sell, then the trips to the salvage yard (btw, low at copartsfinder.com or thepartstrader.com for parts and cars, as well as ebay) to recreate your car with less $$. you'd be down about $5K and many hours of "hassle" to get back 60Kmi.
If you buy a 98+, you lose the UPRD ECU as well, don't you? I thought Cheston said it was 97 or older.
On top of all that, you know how well you took care of your car, while you have no idea of how the lease return was treated.
In any case, good luck getting the car you want!

Emax if u get rid of ur 95
If your gonna be switching all your stuff from your 95 to a 97 and cant transfer body kit tell me i'll take it for a reasonable price(reasonable = dirt cheap)Y pay $700 for a body kit when u can get a used one lik cheston did for so much less. Truthfully i say you should just hold out a little or get an 01 20th anniversary edition. they look sooo nice.
Thanks for the advice
but there will not be any labor charge since I am more then capable of removing all my parts off my 95 and onto the 97/98.And I will enjoy doing this a great deal since I love toolin around with my car {as you can see}.So it will be only 3-3.5K to upgrage not including leather etc.About looking for the I30 I don't think I will ever find another one near that price,so I think this is best for my Maxima future.

i think you basically have this car, grille, motor, tranny wise.
why not drive the crap out of the 91k motor and then buy another 600-700 dollar vq (which last up to 300k sometimes) after that's toasted. my 3 cents.

my advice
Don't sell your car..
If anything be patient and go for the I30 ..
you put too much work into your max..
also don't forget 97 max may have more safety features but it's also OBDII ..that means heavier and slower and a lot of the aftermarket performance parts for your max are designed to fit OBDI spec'd cars so they might not fit on a 97..
I'm tryin to say make sure you can switch everything over..
Also I go to auctions at times and my pops goes every week..
I've seen 97 SE 5-spd FULLY LOADED with 40-45K miles go for 15K
I've also seen 97-98 GXE's 5-spd with 30-40K miles go for 10K-11K ..
Think it through .. Personally i'm waitin for the 2002 max
