Tire/rim out of round! Help
#1
I switched my front 225 50 16 Futura GTX with my rear stock Toyo proxes A05 215 55 16s today. I was having a vibration problem before, when I'm going down the road the car would feel wierd, like a shimmy, even at low speeds at 20 MPH or so. I had the tires rebalanced before, I have a feeling I nailed a curb or somethin in the past. Anyway, the inside of the rim looks fine, no visible bends. When I swapped out the rims today, the shimmy is gone, probably since the imperfect wheel(s) are at the rear of the car now, and they dont support an engine, arent the drive wheels, and dont control steering anymore. I guess I'm really going to have to wait until I get new tires to see if the rim is truly bent. If the rim is bent, wheres the cheapest place to buy an OE 16" SE rim? If its too much, I'll just send it to http://www.wheelcollision.com up in PA.
Guess I also gotta get used to the stickier/wider tires being in the rear now. Cant wait to do burnouts, cause I got stickies in the rear to hold the car in place, and the fronts dont have much traction :-)
