Parking Brake Cables Snapped - Anyone else have this problem?
Has anyone else had their Emergency Brake Cables break on them? Mine just broke a few days ago. Went to the dealer and they wanted $80 per cable (the back 2 were snapped) and I looked online (Thanks to Maxima.Org for teaching me about online parts sites) and I found them for $60.
I just wanted to know if anyone else has had theirs snap on them....

mine are gone...mechanic told me it was probably from every time the car was raised it rubbed against something or was pinched so they tore open. where'd you get yours that cheap? are you putting them on yourself or getting them put on for you?

I was VERY lucky. On one of my family's Maximas (the one I drive), the passenger line near the pivot point of the trailing arm was slightly cut. Well, the rubber. So I put some anti-sieze in there and taped it all up. Then, I bent the hinge that holds it downward. Now it doesn't touch the pivot point like it used to.
I'm glad I checked http://motorvate.ca out. It was a good, quick fix.

Yeah its not labeled a "save your car and life from harm" brake. stopping is not always what is recommened when in an emergency (thats why the brake doesnt fix everything), but if there happens to be an emergency with your brakes (ie your brakes fail) the ebrake is used to stop your car to prevent some accidents.
