Real Pic of a 4th Gen w/ hoodscoop...

Sorry I have no idea whose it is, I just found it on CustomMaxima and though I would share since some people are considering it. It's not my style at all but then again I don't think any hoodscoop on a Maxima would look good.

And I just have to post this one I think it's hilarious - stock rims, stock height, stock orange corners, stock tails and a ROLL CALL!

i dont consider that basis to judge putting a hood scoop on.. i think a molded scoop center mounted would look pretty nice.. but yet to be seen of course.

Well that's not what I'm judging it by... it's just that most cars with a hoodscoop have a relatively flat hood. The Maxima has a fairly round one. IMO there are very few cars that can have aftermarket hoodscoops and still look good. But like I said, that's IMO. As for the center-mounted hoodscoop... it would look better but everybody would joke you when they see the intake is on the side. Unless of course you route the air to the intake, which is possible...

It doesn't look very good, but at least it's functional.

can you get that sarona POS molded on? i would put one on for the functionality.
i kinda like the graphics on that second max except it would be better in color.
how much would it be to install one of those scoops anyway?

Re: Real Pic of a 4th Gen w/ hoodscoop...

That car looks icky. Why Sarona would make a square hood scoop for this bubble of a car, I don't know. It looks as bad as the guys who use dryer ducts for hood scoops. And the hood pins on the factory hood just complete the look. The monster tach and fire extinguisher are the finishing touches.

On a side note, why on earth would you put such a little fire extinguisher in the car. It won't even do anything. A couple of weeks back, some hooptie in the parking lot at my parents restaurant caught fire and I happened to be the first one to see it. I saw it pretty early and my brother and some other people grabbed fire extinguishers from the shops. After emptying 3 of them into the engine, the fire kept going. These are the big fire extinguishers too. It took a fire truck and a couple of hundred gallons of water to put it out. How on earth is a 9" long chrome extinguisher going to be of any help.

look again, there is no cut line in the trunk lid and the bumper is more rounded like the 97-99's are.

i still dont get 3m taped on hood pins

That's cool that they have a functional one. It looks pretty dumb, but hey, as long as it works...I just thought up a few ideas for better-looking hoodscoops that are functional...but it's in my head lol. I might try something someday. Anyway, if anyone has any b4/after results for a FUNCTIONAL scoop, post them!

I know this is a stupid question,

But how does water keep from getting into the air filter and engine compartment? Or is it such a small amount that it doesnt really matter?

A good question. One would hope there would be some kind of filter element on the scoop to catch that stuff, or a way to close it, or both.

You guys have got to be kidding me...I have corresponded with the owner and I acknowledged he had put a lot of work into his car but did NOT JUDGE him by my opinions...how do you expect someone to compete withthe attitiude of personalizing a car and only having a few references to go off of and the people who supposedly love the cars the most don't even consider their feelings before mouthing off.

I don't normally respond by posting my frustration and I will give it a couple days for people who care about reading it to respond by e-mail if they like but something is wrong somewhere...if the shoe fits wear it.

I have been talking to the owner through email and he is a local SoCal owner. He does search the board but never posts in fact he is probably looking at this post thinking what a**holes everyone here is. He has put alot of work into his car, in fact it used to be WRX blue.

Well I really don't like it too much either but it takes all kinds I guess. Not everyone likes my car either. Although some replies are a tad insensitive, if you don't like to hear negative comments, I don't suggest posting your car on the internet(because there WILL be someone who doesn't like your car). Even though the owner of the car didn't post the picture, he must must have his car pics on the net somewhere in order for it to be linked here(or he emailed someone his pic)

Exactly. And for all I know there could be another board somewhere with people laughing at pics of my car. Once I put pics on the internet, I have to accept that. BTW If the reader is reading this I would like him to respond.

For the record, I never said that car was ugly, just that the hoodscoop was not my style. I actually LOVE the car - from the color, rims, lip, and lights to the exhaust I think they all look very good. The only things I don't like are the Altezzas, hood pins (which I would understand if it was a painted CF hood), and tach. But I guess those are all personal preference. Hey if the owner is reading this, I would be very interested to see your mod list or some pics of when it was blue. Sorry if this post offends you please PM or eMail me or a moderator and it will be taken down ASAP. I just thought I'd share the hoodscoop pic with others because you are among the first few with one.

I think you can get that hood scoop from a 88-89 300zx turbo, it is functional on those cars. but it looks ugly IMO.
I liked the anime on red max, very original.
