Me and Steve(DMB) go head to head, a bunch of races

Me and Steve met up today to swap out our headlights(I gave him my clear ones) and of course to do a few races The smack talk has been going on since our 4th gens, lol. So we lined up on a wide big straight road. He beeped 1,2,3 and we took off, he spun a bit and I jumped him off the line, then I went to shift into second with a one car lead and I missed the gear, argh. A truck appeared at the end of the road so we had to call the first run off.

Run 2, we lined up again and he beeped 3 times, I beat him off the line again. I slowly pulled away to about 90 MPH and he was about 3-4 lenghts back.

Run 3 I counted to 3 and we got out of the hole about the same, I got ahead of him a little. We where pretty close the whole race, by about 90 he was about a 1/2 a car back.

After this we decided to see how are cars whould do from a 40 MPH role. He beaped 3 times and he got a little bit of a jump on me(only a few ft but he had momentum) and by about 90 MPH he was on my front door.

We did a few more rolling races and I ended being ahead of his car by about a half a car.

Over all I'd say are cars are pretty damn close but on a roll I pull away a little bit on him. He needs to get his street launch down too, hehe. We figured out his clutch pedal is a bit screwy too, it feels all slushy, it's not nearly as crisp as mine. I supect he either has air in his clutch fluid resovoir or maybe his TOB is screwed up?

I also figured out my AE pedal is what's screwing up my car.

Anhow, I had a fun day today, it was great meeting up with you Steve.

And I should also mention that Steves car looks really nice, I love the blue color. His big brake kit seems to work very well too although brake pedel feel has been compromised(it's worth it though).

lol, his lights do look like cop car lights now. BTW I wish you had come over to tape the races. That would be very intertaining to watch!

I think he did pretty well considering you have more mods than him. All Steve has is an intake right?

The last I knew, Steve had FSTB, RSB, Progress/KYB AGX, Catback, 18" wheels, BF Goodrich G-Force KD tires.

Intake(of course) gutted cat and cat-back exhaust. And I agree his car kept up very well with me. However my car has been acting very odd lately so I don't know if it is running 100% or not.

Man, these are the best kind of races, 2 very similarly equippped cars. Its almost all about the driver

next time you should trade cars and race to see how the other car really feels, and also really know if its all due to driver skill or not.

We almost switched cars but decided that it was not worth doing becuase if one of us broke something on the others car it would really suck.

Matt, I don't get it?

Amazing2, I never heard from him, I guess he wimped out, lol.

the race accounts sound pretty accurate, they were all very close. something is DEFINETLY wrong with my clutch throw and i need to find out what it is, it's horribly different then ethan's and he said that he would have trouble launching my car with the clutch like that.

my car looks awesome with the cleared lights and blue bulbs, insanely illegal but so hot at the same time. i'm glad we did it, thanks again ethan.

i actually got lost on the way to his hosue and my cell phone wasn't working, there are two roads with the same name, i went down the wrong one and he came looking for me after he realized that's prolly what i did. no headlights and all he drove around for me it was funny. i actually said to him on the way to the dealer that i bet it was his AE pedals because the accelerator one didn't fit right and i bet that's what it was. we got to the dealer and they cleared the CEL and the reason was accelerator pedal.

and i have an intake, catback, and a test pipe(not a gutted cat) i had an idea for a ghetto y-pipe too, get a cali spec 2k pipe and have the rear bank cut and weld a new flange onto it so that it bolts up to the rear pre cat, i'm not sure if it will make as much power.

Darren the retard mode did not show up today, however it's lurking in the back round waiting to spoil a good race.

you know whats is funny is that looking at the 1/4 trap speeds of both of the cars, anytime you race from a roll, emax should walk dmb. what is it like 94mph to 99mph?, that is huge. I trap roughly 5 mph faster than my friends civic, and I walk him from any speed and gear. I would guess that the traps at dmb's track are a little off or something, because you guys are pretty close. Thats why comparing trap speeds is so hard to do when it is different track and different conditions, it is so much easier if you just race the other person.

Well Steve lowers his tire PSI to like 18 PSI at the track so that right there causes a lot of rolling resistance on his car and lowers his trap speed. When we raced from about 0-90 I was probably going about 3 MPH quicker at the end. Steve got his low trap speed on a very cool day(which is great for traps) and I got got mine on a humid 80 degree(which of course is bad for racing) so I don't think track conditions is the case. I think we went to the same track too? Did you do your 14.3 at NED Steve?

Erica just so you know the road we raced on was basicaly a 1/4 mile track, there are no houses around and you can see for about a 1/2 mile ahead of you. The only danger present is if a deer ran in front of my car(they only come out at night around here though).
